Am I the only one here who think that the next Rotary will still be out in about 2 years from now ?

I'd definitely look into a CX-7, as long as they plan on refreshing with the kodo styling, and sky G/D. I think the CX-5 may be too small, but I'd try that too.

That the way it goes. Believe nothing except what comes out of the Tokyo Auto Show. Then have your depost ready.

LMAO

Ok get your flame guns ready!!

The Rx was and is for the auto enthusiast who wants and likes something different, a touch of rebellion perhaps. I've said this before elsewhere I personally would really like to see the team who re did the Dodge Challenger tackle the first gen 7 re doing it slightly larger with a back seat for kids maybe 250 rwhp. Are not other fuel sources available? Adopt some suspesion technology over. I don't build production cars of course but hell I'd be one of the first on line for 30 to 40k

Ok going back to the 7club forum lol

The 1st Gen RX7 did have a backseat available in Japan (possibly, all 7's did). I had a friend that added it to his car for his kids. You lost the little cubby holes behind the seats in the process.
Propane should be easy to setup as an alternative fuel. I wouldn't want to track the car with it.

God some of you guys just don't get it..

Mazda and ALL Japanese makers are having their asses squeezed so tight that SOMETHING has to give...and with Mazda for now it is the rotary.

Mazda already lost $200 odd million last quarter (tsunami).

The YEN is virtually killing Mazda...very slowly...there is NO Business case for ANY new rotary.

Then there is a small thing called "energy" ELECTRICITY, Japan as a nation is having huge issues with not having enough power....like new Nuclear Stations take 20 years or so to build...

They have no or little natural resources to generate power.

SAVE the Rotary...Give it up...

UNTIL all the Stars are aligned in the correct order we wont see anything Rotary..

USA gets out of the doldrums..might be around 2017...might.
Europe..well it is also BROKE.
UK a basket case.
China has all this currency which is losing value..FAST.

I have even LESS optimism of a new "Rotary"..

Let alone ALL the issues of Regulation, Emissions, Fuel, Safety.

Yup I beleive everywhere but the US had a back seat, the SA's 78 79 & 80 didn't even have the luxury of the bins .... matter of fact my back seat should be here by end of next week from the UK.

So propane for street use and number 1 mod would be petro??

dang ASH next you tell us there is no Santa Claus or Easter bunny and then you'll tell us suckily on a implant enhanced boob will make our hair fall out and pecker fall off

Ever heard the phrase where there is a will there is a way?

If there is no will there will be no way.

There are those that are waiting for the end of the world, world war III, have embraced church (which ever works for them) Here there are folks that hold on to the hope of a new rotary. What does it hurt anyone?

I wouldn't worry about the 8 being discontinued. That FT-86 from Scion will pretty much be the next generation RX-8. Small, lightweight, great handling, and underpowered.

Yeah....OK....It will NEVER be a Rotary or RX...or an MX-5 for that matter...

That's is IF it (FT-86) does eventuate...which it looks like it will.

Sorry bud....

As I have said I WANT TO BE 100% Wrong...

Mazda ARE well aware of their "enthusiast" clients in Japan, US, Canada, UK and Australia/NZ.

BUT...it is just not enough...what really pisses me is the S1's Engine flaw, the MOP set up...**** POOR, it should NEVER have been given the green light.

You can't tell me the technology was not around then to make the EMOP set up in Series II's...after all they are just two forged Alloy Housing, beautifully machined inside with small pistons to push oil by a single big fat 12V solenoid top on each.
With main Oil Pressure from Engines Oil Pump inside the two EMOP Chambers.

And the inadequate Oil Pressure in S1 goes hand in hand.

ALL elementary stuff.

WHY you MUST Pre-Mix.

I am repeating myself and ranting AGAIN!!

But YEAH...Mazda needs our financial support AFTER the Tsunami...I did my part too..my MX-5 was made 2 days before.

I know their all new SkyActiv Banger Engines, Trans and Chassis will sell very well.

They need these two new Car Plants in Mexico and Russia to start ASAP...get back in the black..and then see.

We also have to remember that MMC employ many RENESIS (Rotary) techs and engineers and engine foundry workers and assemblers...they will try not to lose them.

I beleive the RX-8 will still be made for Japan market for some years yet.

I would never get one, but I think that thing already has FAIL written all over it unless it's priced low enough for the ricer crowd. People won't buy it because it is so underpowered compared to other affordable sports coupes/cars. That thing is gonna be just like the 8 (even though it will have much better mpg) Pretty much the same reason the 8 has fallen off the face of the earth with car buyers.

And if you're gonna compare it to a MX-5...well...we know what happened when Pontiac and Saturn tried to compete with the MX-5.

I've also heard the "poor man's Lotus" comparisons. If the FT-86 could come anywhere near Lotus performance for 25k, I'd think about it but I seriously doubt it.
