"Mazda expects to recall RX-8s"
Ok, I know I should open a new thread on this to go with the others...
Took the 8 in for the recall, it was there a total of about 2 hours. Not even plugs, just a computer zap and done. I have just turned 15,000 miles with the test. I was curious whether they actually did anything until I saw the handprints in the brake dust on the front wheels.
So who is going to add up the recall 'in and outs' vs. engine replacements?
Looks like this is a CX-7 marketing ploy the way it is going. Yeah, I drove a CX-7 for about 2 hours or so. I still like the 8 better. Not bad for a crossover SUV. The engine lags a little waiting for the little turbo to catch, and I find I like seeing the front corners of my car. The hood on the CX-7 drops away out of sight.

I agree Zoom. I thought it was odd that they had to order the spark plugs, since that is a major piece of this recall. At any rate the service was still far and above what I have experienced at Autowest Mazda.
zoom-- they did, ahem, wash my car. I should have told them to skip it. They somehow missed the wheels. I am happy to get my 8 back dent and abuse free.
I know that I have low expectations. They have been set that way, not necessarily by this dealer, but by the net dealer experience. I will save my bile for issues that count.

I may try another dealer next time to see if they are as good as they tell our club they are. So yes, I will be taking my cash elsewhere.

(Autocenter in Middletown RI) I explained that I've seen the documents from MNAO that were sent to the dealer already with all the info they need to do (thanks Zoom!), who's affected, etc... to which he said "Those documents aren't official if they're not linked right to MNAOs site, and you need a password to get them." I offered to show him and he dind't want anything to do with it.
He also said, that they only have 'bits and pieces' of the recall and not all the info on it yet (that's the info that is coming on the 15th). I made and appointment for the 19th and he didn't have a problem with that.

true. no motor for me till the sept 15... in the gulf area..
the rollout was west southwest. gulf. then ne..

[FONT=Arial Black]Got my extended 1 year notification...... My car actually got an engine at about 4,000. It now has 19,000 plus.. I bought the extended warranty thru 6 years. Wondering what I can do if anything about cancelling one year and or getting some cash back. Any ideas?
Input appreciated. by the way when I got the new motor they also put in stronger starter, new (hotter) plugs and larger capacity battery. How do you figure this factors in with the new recall? Believe me it does not get any hotter any place in the nation except for death valley.....I am in the Imperial Valley...have any of you heard or been down this way? Nick[/FONT]

Don't worry! The dealer is supposed to wash/detail the car and fill it up with gas as part of the recall. The letter to the dealers calls for "white glove treatment" (hopefully not too invasive).

. Hadn't needed service since the fuel-tank heat-shield recall, and my wife is driving a Toyota now. Looking forward to checking out Team. We had good experience at Bill Lang with 5 different Mazdas.

Seriously though, keeping to the topic of the thread - didn't they offer you a CX-7 or a more premium car? I thought that and the complimentary car wash / detailing were part of the terms of this 'campaign'.

Soooo... My engine is in, and i go in to the dealorship in 4 hours.... and i've been up all night at work... and i gotta take my kids to school, and i got a doctor appointment.... well hey atleast ill get something good out of today

I guess I'll take any hope I can, as I'm fairly certain my 8 isn't pushing anywhere near the 238 hp the sticker claims. If they advertised what it really outputs (somewhere in the 190's), my decision to get this car would have been a lot harder.
