I had a friend who always had his oil changed by someone else since he didn't have a garage or tools to do it in. First off he'd go to Jiffy lube or some other G&O joint (bad idea) and then later I found out he had been spraying some teflon stick spray onto his serpentine belt system where the spray is designed for V belt single groove systems. The shop pointed it out that was destroying his belt and he'd have to replace the belt and clean all the pulleys. MORON. I changed his oil for him one time and I had to bring out a half inch 2ft long breaker bar just to get the plug off they tightened it down so much.

If they would concentrate on quality service instead of poor service and scamming people they would make more money. I think it has to do with their corp culture. The managers are probably pressed hard to make ridiculous monthy profits so they do whatever they can to get over. It's a a model for complete failure and I can see a lube place come out of nowhere with the right attitude and employees to shut em down.

I went to Jiffy lube once with my 93 Jeep Cherokee. The guy came in and told me that one of my battery cells was bad and I needed a new battery. I stated, "really, I just replace the battery last week with a new one." He dissapeared and I did not see him for the rest of my wait.
I never have them do anything else.
I took my RX-8 to a Master Lube for an oil change at about 2500 miles because I had to go on the road and wanted the first oil changed. I spent my time talking to and watching the guy that replaced the oil filter and they did a good job. They were the only ones that had 5W-20 dino oil.

I think it's funny that just a few months after this report came to light I started seeing Jiffy Lube commercials highlighting their drive for excellent customer service.

When you say worse, i imagine them leaving the drain plug out and and dumping in Fast Orange (Pumice based hand soap) or replacing the oil filter with coke can
Explain worse?
i'm interested

i did the same test
true story!
i was bored one day and decided to test this theory, i changed my oil and filter... i drew on the filter my name. and i put white out on the side of my air filter... i went to jiffy lube and paid for a air filter, oil and filter change. well here's what happened everything came to $34.76
i was accross the street watching my car, my car was the only one there, the guy checked the dip stick( remember the oil is brand new in there) he closed the hood and went back inside.
i came back in only 10 minutes. i said " that was fast " he said "we are that good"
lol i got my final receipt and told him i needed to talk to the manager. i told him to check everything infront of my face and if all my parts are the same as before i will sue the company
sure enough he took my receipt, ripped it up and gave me $40 dollars back and told me never to come back again. if i got this on video tape i could have been a rich man! screw jiffy lube!

U guys gotta admit that 12 bucks BYOF&O (Bring your own filter and oil) oil change is good. but still I prefer to do it myself. call me a cheap *** or whatever you like :P
there was a place just want 10 bucks from me, but I guess they dont like me to go there anymore cuz 10 bucks is nothing ... hehehe
Damn Jiffy Lube ..... I saw their **** on TV couple days ago, and ....
I wonder what would happen if I bring my laptop, go there, and do whatever change, sit down in the waiting room with full of people, and start watching the Jiffy Lube cheating Customer Video. Are they going to kick my *** ?"
