Man, We Ain't Found Sh*t!
Oh yeah! That's where he mentioned scrub radius and a few other terms I was unable to keep up with. I remember that too! Dave Coleman is the man..

I think the Renesis is definitely the achievement they thought it would be back then, but I think Mazda made mistakes in making the RX-8. A ~2200 lb Miata sized coupe with NA Renesis would have been great, but for the size/weight of the RX-8 it was silly to release the car without a turbocharger. The RX-8 is 200+ lbs heavier than the RX-7 and less horsepower despite being released 10 years after the RX-7 was discontinued... what did Mazda expect was going to happen with sales?
Also, the RX-8 as a grand touring car is a bit silly too because of the rotary being on the low end of sports car fuel efficiency. If it wasn't for the tremendous potential the platform has despite these mistakes I don't think I would have bought one... but Mazda knows how to build a damn suspension that's for sure. Once it has the power to match, it shows what potential the car and engine really have.
Cool article man, thanks for posting.
