With people hitting the end of their warranty period now, you might as well get an aftermarket turbo installed. Mazdaspeed FI kits never give you much of a boost compared to aftermarket.

I've heard something a little different. I read about Mazda and Vortech working together on a supercharged 8 on this forum. I asked a dealer about if it's true they are coming out with a MS8, and he said ... yes. It'll be SC'd with about 300-320hp. La de freakn da was my thoughts at first, but I've heard about this "Mazda and Vortech meeting" a number of times now, from the internet and from the dealers. Also, wasn't that white 8 that everyone of us wanted and talked about for days on end SC'd? That was like almost 2 years ago or something? I kind of place my bets on the MS8 being SC'd. Just my thought.

twin turbo RX-8 does not mean Sequential twin turbo tho... could be two smaller turbo instead of one huge one... big difference, but i see no reason to do that to a rotary...
For me, I'd want to see a supercharged RX-8 instead of a turbo-ed one.

im not saying turbo definetly but FI of some sort. ID liek to see them do a supercharger too- depending on the unit. yes the white one was supercharged.
crimson you are probably hearing a rebirth of the sunflower mazda supercharger story. at least that'd be my bet

Zoom44, that is true about 2007. 2008 is questionable at this point. This came from an engineer from Japan who was visiting a Vegas dealer researching the "repeated engine failures" issue. Believe me, I hope its not true. I too would love to see a Mazdaspeed turbo RX8.

I read a review of the MS3 in a JDM magazine last night... comparing it to the GTI. It's only advantage is that a DSG GTI costs like $34k in Japan whereas the MS3 is only $24k. If the prices were closer (as if likely in USDM)... the MS3 would clearly lose. The engine was peaky they said... so so power down low and then the boost hits (and hit hard). Handing is decent, but the larger wheelbase (compared to even the 5 door GTI) can be felt. The GTI had a better torque curve... flat and broad and the steering felt direct they said. The interior quality was (of course) better they said... more luxurious... as it should for costing more. Their overal opinion... the MS3 is a great value, but the GTI is still a better car.

I wonder if RP could even produce enough to supply an OEM special edition type car. That would be cool if Mazda would choose a type of FI that's efficient enough to not need an intercooler, seeing as how they seem to skimp on intercoolers and cause problems. Maybe an increasingly weaker US dollar would make it economical for Mazda to import their FI solution.

If they went FI though, What internal mods would they most likely make to the rotary? Or is it possible we would just see a turbo/SC slapped on with some tunning? After all thats what the aftermarket is for, hope they plan on internal mods

i pwn therefore i am
Seems as though everyone is convinced that the 8 is going to get FI or be completely discontinued. Each day that the RX-8 is sold in its current state is a mockery to all we hold dear!

it is most likely they would lower compresion a bit but dont count on it since the kind of presure its goin to have its no more then 8 to 10psi.
personally I would go with a limited production 10,000 units, 3 rotor, lighter , basic, harder suspension car, and sell the engine as a crate motor. it makes sence in that it will give the rx-8 a boost in PR , it will give racers there engine ( belive me must racers are tire of looking for cosmo engines in junkiars) if they can get 250 rwhp it would challange a lot of cars.
The mazdaspeed type 2 car with a NA 3 rotor with 300 hp
