it's not curved down. it's just the shadow. look at the left one.

and yes, that's the stock spoiler. It's just at an odd angle.

I am with you man, the left one looks curved down to me too

If I remember correctly turbo cars generally have higher exhaust temps than their non-turbo counterparts. The higher exhaust temps might have been messing up the MS rear bumper.

After looking at it in photoshop, it's very difficult to determine which way they're pointing but it is entirely possible that they are pointing down. The right tip is impossible to really tell because the shot is almost dead on, however the left tip is either pointing down or just looks that way because they're very large, very long, cut on an angle and the chrome reflection of the top bumper gives it an artificial shadow.

Either way, the tips extend out past the end of the bumper and if you ask hymee, it's the pipes themselves that are dangerous when hot, not direct exposure to the exhaust gases. If they really are pointing down, then yuck.

Awesome News!!
Just the fact that it was Mazda Australia and not just a single dealership program gives me reassurance that they'll make this concept package an international reality.
Article said the Australian International Motor Show is through the 17th, hopefully someone can get some under the hood pictures.

Also, as far as the numbers being converted , are these correct?
270kw = 362hp
350Nm = 258ft-lbs torque

The exhaust tips do point down.

Looks good on take off as it blows all the crap off the street, plus if done correctly reduces the heat to the top of the bumber but focus it more towards the bottom plastic.

Regards
Phillip

Mazda Motorsports is a local skunkworks run by a bloke named Allan Horsley.
Some of their products churned out through the years have only been available here locally in Australia, for example :

http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_1409/article.html

http://www.autoweb.com.au/cms/A_54979/newsarticle.html

http://www.autospeed.com/cms/A_1997/article.html

Hopefully they will get aound to building the turbo 8 in more readily available numbers than their previous efforts.

I've seen under the hood there's nothing to see! The turbo (a GT30-BB) is tucked well away. The downward facing exhuast is a racing rotary thing, popular in Australia. It directs the exhaust away from trackside sound measuring equipment. Also stops the flames from buring the rear bumper.

A thing of beauty to behold, with some punch under the hood.

Although the white rims are bad, and the stripes are a little much.

More info and pics here...

You can see the downward facing exhaust tips better in one of these photos.

Damn. That car must be tuned well. Sorry I didn't see that in the article. I tend to skip every other sentence. :o

At least I know that a GT30R works well on a 13B-MSP. Now, if someone could help me get a GT35R 1.06 A/R turbine, I'll show you what power is. :p

Nevermind the horrible wheels and stripes, I'm trading my 8 in for that one...
