362HP Turbo RX-8 at AIAS

Caveats:
It's only a Mazda OZ concept
It doesn't seem to be finished

Then again there's a decent chance a version of this will end up as an RX-8SP when sales begin to decline.

rotarygod 10-07-2004 01:03 AM

That isn't rwhp but it is still only at 7.5 lbs of boost!!!

Rxdriftingaction 10-07-2004 01:22 AM

I hope it can available soon...

mspeed11 10-07-2004 01:58 AM

this is great!!!!!! now we can just order there ecu and all the other crap that will work with our own choice of turbo. lag does not bother me enough to go with that little boy. but this is awsome news!!!!!!!

rpm_pwr 10-07-2004 02:48 AM

Perhaps you've failed to grasp the word 'concept'. With Mazda selling every RX-8 they make this will probably never see the light of day.

This car is apparantly a runner, just not properly tuned in time for the motorshow.

RXE16T 10-07-2004 07:27 AM

Someones gotta shoot the person who was responsible for the overall styling of the car!

Looks as though they were trying too hard and ended up with a "ricer look".

rpm_pwr 10-07-2004 07:31 AM

With the headlights? Yeah. But if you've ever owned a turbo rotary, you'll know that the bonnet vents and larger air dam aren't just for show like on most cars. I beleive thats an adjustable Mazdaspeed wing on the back too, which is fair enough since the is destined for track work, and a 270kW rx-8 has a fair chance of making use of it.

RXE16T 10-07-2004 07:35 AM

Actually, I was talking about the go-fast stripes and the mazda sticker on the side.
Not to mention the white rims.

Seeing as the constant colour theme was red with black highlights, why not gunmetal rims?

rpm_pwr 10-07-2004 07:46 AM

I wont argue with that!

shorty911 10-07-2004 08:24 AM

So as far as turbo for the rx8 when do you guys think it will be safe to say their will be one out? And by out i mean like worth the money not like an unreliable prototype

Mugatu 10-07-2004 08:26 AM

looks promising.

Intrigue 8 10-07-2004 08:50 AM

Do it... Do it...

Red Devil 10-07-2004 09:04 AM

I liked the mention that the engine retains the same compression and redline. So from that can we conclude that the engine has OEM internals?

Ellar 10-07-2004 09:07 AM

Those stripes are so GT-350 or GT-40. Anybody who's butt puckered up in the other thread when it was suggested that the horn is a Ford part probably just sucked an office chair up there.

s13lover 10-07-2004 09:38 AM

Well, at least we know know that Mazda has been bulidng a turbo Renesis. With all the hysteria about HP claims in the US, maybe our MS version will get a turbo to ensure the car makes plenty of power.

devious12 10-07-2004 09:41 AM

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!! PLEASE SOMEONE JUST BUILD A TURBO 8 THAT WORKS!!!!!! UGGGH!

ok i'm done with my temper tantrum

canaryrx8 10-07-2004 10:06 AM

sure would like to see this thing run, need video now!

Ajax 10-07-2004 10:09 AM

i actually didnt mind the styling too much.. i'm too busy drooling over the fact that it's a turbo.

zoom44 10-07-2004 12:34 PM

Motor sport manager, Allan Horsley, said: "The RX-8 Motorsport Concept was a must do challenge for us and thanks to the engineering sophistication of the production car it all came together in just a few months.
BOGGLE

Somehow that statement doesn't match up with how I perceive after-market development is coming along...

futureownr4sure 10-07-2004 02:35 PM

I'm pretty sure there will be some great aftermarket performance products in a very near future.

Audioslave8 10-07-2004 04:09 PM

is it just me or does that exhaust curve down?
