I would assume that device is measuring ride height? There have been mentions of suspension upgrades.

My guess:
- New gearing
- Upgraded supension coming standard (similar to the Shinka suspension)

 

Also, is it me or can you see a difference here in the dash?

 

The rear is kinda like the mazdaspeed V2 also. And all the studs at the bottom of the sides might be the mounting points for the side skirts... One can only hope cuz that 8 looked sick.

You can clearly see the bottom of the rear bumper near the tire does not taper off as the MS2.

 

it's more the front bumper that shows the similarities. although it might be me reading into it and seeing something that isn't there. i thought i saw it wink too so take it with a grain of salt.

 

 

Online magazine Winding Road did that. They got a C6 Vette, taped some cardboard to it and put black sheets all around, then Motortrend, C&D, etc all speculated it was a new Blue Devil

 

So I'm not the only one that thinks dash looks different... looks similar to new Mazda6 dash on the top, while below the vent keep the same emergency button

Can't quite tell, but "feels" that it is slightly more tilted, LED/LCD display are into the dash a little more, maybe it's the angle, I couldn't find a current RX-8 pic at that angle.

Also at the edges of the opening closer to the vent seems to be more angled than curved in the current design.

+1 The dash looks like its been revamped a little from the little bit we can see.

 

In not real impressed with the change. Who wants a tarp bolted to their 8 anyways?

 

I just Hope Mazda have not STUFFED up the LOOK of the 8...with their changes..which are needed BTW, they were NEEDED over a year ago.

None of us can tell with a "crap bra" on and diaper.

2008 is my year for finally getting the 8, and I will be pissed if they have "F**KED it UP!

 

With what I've seen from the freshened up Mazda6 to their stunning concept vehicles, including the Kubara, I just have to trust that they will nail this one dead on too. It helps me sleep at night
