"you look so happy driving your car"

this is what my cousin told me when i was driving him to the airport yesterday. keep in mind this was the first time he has ever ridden in my 8, so i was totally caught off-guard when he made that comment.

i guess i'm so used to driving this car that i forgot how much i love driving it, and only someone with a fresh set of eyes can notice my happiness when driving my car.

so here's props to the car that i love to drive!

That's funny. My girlfriend said the same thing to me when we were driving to the airport on Sunday.

Ha, ha. Someone I know that lives out near me said she was driving past me going the opposite direction and she said she saw me driving with a big smile on my face, that I looked so happy. LOL

Must be contagious.

A buddy of mine was following me the other day in his car. He remarked that my driving style was as if I was at play behind the wheel.
Wasn't really speeding or weaving. But I would unconciously be speeding up going into a turn and throttling back in the straights, flicking the steering just enough to avoid potholes, broken pavement, matching revs, excessive shifting, etc.... Just having fun.

Having only owning it for 2 days, I can honestly say that every one that has seen me driving have noticed an opposite facial expression then what I had in Iraq this past year. I cringe on looking at the fuel guage but then realize that I'm in such an awesome car.

Aint it great and at the same time kinda scary to know that a car makes you feel that great that others notice and have to comment on it hehe. Though its even better when others feel the same when they are in the passenger seat
"I love this car.. feels like I'm in a video game and I'm actually WINNING!!" -said by this woman I like while driving back from Boston.

Overall its just a great car gas, hp, torque whateva aside, when you sit in it you just have to smile.

(Sigh!) That's what I'm talkinig about! For me, I don't even have to sit in it. I was at the dealership last week getting my "free wash/vacuum" and I was watching the service person drive away in my car...I was like "*sigh* so that's how cool I look when I'm driving it..."

That is too funny. I just know many of us have silly grins on our faces when we're driving.

HEH HEH ... I get told the same thing.

After a rough day of work, when I get to the car ... all is good in the world, the birds are chirping, the sun is shining, ladies are looking fine and I'm feeling like a superhero. Yea the car is that awesome. I should just live in the car like that Nissan Sentra guy in the commercials.

A little off subject, but my roommate hopped in my 8 tonight for the first time to take a ride around town... as soon as we went into our first straight away where I could get up into 4th gear, he said "this sounds like a f*cking jet airplane"...

These are the reasons I love keeping this car...

I seldom have a smile on when I'm driving my 8. This is because I've moved to Bellevue, WA, which has horrible traffic and an ocean of the world's worst-timed traffic lights. So I seldom can do the kind of driving that does the 8 justice.

Time to get a second AT commuter car that has good MPG. Honda Fit?

I've had that thought. But the truth is, other than the local commute and shopping and all, I don't really have anywhere to go around here. It's not like back in Boston where I routinely took road trips down to Jersey and Philly to visit family and friends (indeed, a big road trip to Philly was one of the motivations of buying the 8 in the first place). So if I were to buy some kind of econobox good-MPG second car (and it would still have a stick, no slushbox for me, thank you!), the sad truth is I'd practically never drive the 8. That leaves me with the thought of actually trading in the 8 on an econobox, which I've been pondering lately. But I just can't bring myself to do it, between how much I love the car, and how little I'm sure I'd get on it.
