Up the coast

Took my 8 up the coast on California Highway 1 this morning. Inland temperatures were in the low 70's and it was 60 to 65 degrees along the coast. Not far beyond San Simeon and Hearst Castle, the highway starts climbing and gets real curvey. Many of the near hairpin turns are posted for 20 to 35 MPH. I spent a lot of time in second and third gears. Man, what a road for the 8! 19 MPG for the 157 mile round trip.

Pretty pics there. Not like the East Coast that is in a deep freeze presently. We had 64 in CO today and a cold front is going to hit us Tuesday to dip to the 20s during the day.

Guess I better pack warm. My wife and I are flying out to CO on Wednesday to spend Christmas with our son and his family just north of Denver :p

Nice!! I drove PCH to Santa Barbara once in a rental car. The best I can do in Tejas is TFAOH (Totally flat, any old highway)!! :D

Greatest stretch of road in the Western US. I put up with the ~8 hour travel time between San Diego and Monterey each year for the big classic car weekend so I can enjoy the hundred mile stretch beween San Simeon and Carmel. Have done it in both my RX7s and my RX8. Simply unparalleled.
