is there any turbo kits out there for the 8 that will pass inspections?

 

Depends the state that you're in.

 

The Greddy will pass in any state but Cali. Rotary Performance in Dallas did tests and found it will pass inspection.

 

as usual any state but Cali...they are on a CARB diet

 

i believe that NY now has adopted Cali's emissions standards

I called GReddy today 949-588-8300, they told me it will not pass anywhere. I cant imagine why GReddy would want to lie to me about that. I guess "Rotary Performance" in Dallas needs to re-check thier tests.

 

SSR Engineering said that thier turbo will pass in Texas. I dont know many people that would want to pay $7500+ for a turbo though.

 

i have a feeling they have alot of turbos just sitting on there shelf collecting dust :p

 

I'm kind of dissapointed that greddy turbo kit wont pass smog. I guess when I finally buy it I'll just have to pay someone help me pass it. Just like my other car.

 

It won't pass IF you get a smog test.

In most states you only get hooked up for a smog test if you are currently throwing a CEL. So no CEL, no Smog Test, you pass inspection. Some states have a visual inspection requirements and you'll fail that with the turbo.

 

They do rolling dyno emissions in a number of counties in Texas, RP has a dyno and testing equipment. My guess is that Greddy doesnt have the time to fly out to Dallas to try it out. No reason for RP to lie to you either.

 

I know El Paso does smog tests, I cant imagine Dallas not doing them. If I were to get a turbo installed I would probably just drive out to Van Horn or another smaller town to just get a safety sticker.
