Alright well, there might not be any need for that. He explained to me why many other Mazda dealerships would refuse to do such work... which I didn't really believe but okay.

When I got there, I parked right next to my gorgous blue RX-8, just seeing it made me feel a little better (checked for dents, scratches etc.. didn't find nothing which was good).

When I went inside he greeted me nicely, had a short conversation, and than he took me inside the shop (huge.... about 20 lifts and tons of mechanics which was also good). The transmission was on the table in peices, I mean TONS of peices... he showed me which parts were bad (scratched up) and which were going to be replaced.

He told me theres nothing else he could really do as to speed up the process, he again offered me a rental car which I refused (hate driving a car that's not mine, I get worried i'll crash it, the word insurance frightens me).

Overall, he said the parts won't come in until Friday or Monday, and the car will be done right after they arrive.

So i'm expecting it early next week, just like he said.

Satisfied? Naw... patient? might as well be.. it's been 2 weeks, a couple more days won't hurt. Terrified that the parts weren't the exact problem? Haha yeah.

ok, i know from experience when mazda tech line gives us a refference number to replace a transmission, we dont' turn around and order parts for it.......it doesn't matter what dealership you bought it at...the dealer should be willing to take care of you to earn your trust and business, the point isn't where you bought that one, they want you to buy your next one there and have all your service done there....not sure why it took him 12 days to give you any kind of answer....if it were me, i'ld call mazda customer assistance and complain....they'll call either the factory rep or the dealership itself and put pressure on them to get the issue resolved

Well, he never gave me a reference number. Just a authorization to order a new transmission or parts for it. I actually apoligize about saying 12 days, it actually took 10 total, I dropped it off Wednesday (my fault). Today is the 6th business day because of the Holidays, and you can actually take 1 day since they didn't do anything the day I brought it there (which they should have, it was dropped off at 8 AM est).

Not that big of a deal anymore, as long as it gets resolved. If it doesn't anytime soon - i'll have to call Mazda, lets hope it doesn't get that far.

he should have been specific though about whether you were getting a new transmission, or the one you have rebuilt.....how many miles are on your car?

13k, and yeah - he actually said I was getting a new tranny in the first place, I don't really care. As long as it works, i'll end up selling the car in about 20k miles.

I didn't follow if there was any previous threads about it but what exactly was the problem with the tranny in the first place?

It made grinding noises when the clutch was pushed in, it sounded like the flywheel against the clutch disc.

The transmission also made a rattling noise going in reverse, when it was REAL cold I couldn't put the car into gear (in the middle of traffic). Besides that, nothing really.

We'll never know, AAMCO did put in 80w90 of pure gear oil. Either way, 2 of the transmission parts had a bit of damage to them. Let's hope everything gets taken care of, I'm dieng to get on the road again in my baby.

My manual transmission went out at about 10000 miles. I've never raced the car and I've driven manual since I first got my drivers license (26 yrs now...geez I'm old!). Anyway, took it to the dealer (it was the same place I bought it btw), they looked it over and said I needed new parts. The next day told me the parts were on back-order and that they were just going to give me a whole new transmission. SWEET. Got it back and it's been fine ever since.

Str8cold is absolutely right. Your 48 month 50K mile warranty is from MNAO, not a particular dealership. Any official Mazda service center is required to honor that warranty. On the other hand, the dealership simply charges MNAO what they would have charged you (sort of).

The only issue would be if your use of the vehicle fell under one of the warranty exclusions (like racing, off road operation, etc). Having someone else change your transmission oil does not invalidate your warranty as long as the proper grade of materials was used.

As advised PAY NOTHING. If they won't give you the car back without payment then talk to someone at MNAO (not the delearship) as to why the warranty does not fully apply. Remember, this repair is being paid for by Mazda North America (MNAO), not the crooked service department you are dealing with.

I was told my car's going to be ready beginning of next week, so we're looking at this Tuesday or Wednesday, and if Jesus likes me... it'll be done on Monday.

I have a new clutch installed, I had the car for 3 weeks - drove it about 200 miles before it completely died. I got it for a steal.

Cars in service now, hope its nothing too serious...

Ahh... so driving at 110 broke my transmission, and downshifting is forbidden in manual cars... Maybe a $34,000 car shouldn't be driven at all? Maybe i'll just park it in the garage and stare at it. No wait.. I'll just drive in the same gear from now on. I bought the car to have some fun with it, otherwise I would have gotten a civic. It's a sports car, k? You own a MAZDA RX-8 SPORTS COUPE, maybe you should invest in a Toyota Prius.. I hear them things are good on gas and you can sprint to a 1/4 mile faster than it actually accelerates. I'm not telling you how to drive your car, so why are you telling me how to drive mine?

please .. why are you such a bag of *****? you've been bashing all my posts, are you gay? cuz your always on my ***** bro.

Someone should "accidently" send his posts to Mazda, let them see if his driving is classified as abuse etc. Also your lucky you didnt crash or hurt anyone else while driving like an idiot.

Not really considered driving like an idiot at 4 AM with 1 car every 2 mile radius on a holiday. I wanted to see how fast my new car could go, don't most people do that? ...

The transmission had 2 internal parts that had scratches, signs of abuse? Do what you want - just get off my *****!

Yes it is driving like an idiot, streets are designed for a maximum speed and you are exceeding it. Also you were not seeing the top speed of your car you were street racing, and you were not alone you were racing an Audi. What if you lost control either hit the Audi or another car.

Than that would be my problem wouldn't it? It didn't happen, so why is it such a big deal? The garden state parkway is a multiple lane highway, it's pretty hard hitting the Audi considering it was 2 lanes away. I'll just follow your advice and set cruise control to the every speed limit sign I see, thanks for your advice officer.

This thread isn't about me racing the Audi, it's about my transmission being fixed.

Just for the record, the speed limit sign on that part of the highway was 80.

I don't drive like this all the time - but I appreciate your concern.

LOL!! Your such a tool! Shall I post the PM's that YOU have been sending to me? You know the ones you sent me after your "Burnout" thread?? Which you then deleted??
HaHaHa I wouldn't want to embarrass you. Let's take a look at some of the evidence you've given us shall we.............

Well lets take a quick review here.

After one week of driving on Dec. 5th you tell us this.

Then six days later this...bad clutch smell???. This is interesting because you actually ask how to “perfect” shift.https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/clutch-smell-77587/

Only six days later the plot thickens.... Clutch/Pressure Plate gone bye bye.

Any advice on a GOOD clutch that has a similar feeling to the oem clutch? I was thinking of buying the Exedy clutch/pressure plate set for about $380 - and having AAMCO install it for me.
And weeks later....warranty concerns???? https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/heres-problem-warranty-kaput-79602/

Took the car to Mazda, they took it apart and started asking questions.. they asked me if anyone took the tranny apart and refilled its oil, because it had WAY too much oil in it.

I told them not that i'm aware of, because I bought the car not more than a month ago, used (which I did, car has 13k miles on it).

Will AAMCO's wrong doing void my warranty? Should I tell Mazda the truth and tell them what had happened? .. or do I just wait for my bill (if there is one) and make AAMCO pay it..

What's this? I have CEL's after redlining twice!!! OMG!

And my favorite. The pics of the burnt clutch an pressure plate.
You even admit it shows signs of abuse.

Now I've always been one to always give people the benefit of the doubt. What the evidence that you for some reason voluntarily posted here seems that maybe driver error could have played a role in your problems. Ya think?
