Speeding Tickets and RX-8

So what is everyones experience with speeding tickets in the RX-8?

I have a red GT MT with the red/black seats and have not even been pulled over for 2.5 years.

The last new sports car I purchased was a 2000 Silver S2000 and I got two speeding tickets in the first week (and 5 in 3 years).

I basically drive the cars the same and admit that I speed but I tend to be going with traffic in the fast lane and do pick my spots to go much faster.

I got 3 tickets in a year (15,000 miles).
1 reckless driving ticket (didn't intend to drive fast at all, just felt anxious with my midterm)
2 speeding ticket (1 is due to midterm again; and the other one, i felt bored at home during the summer studying for damn GRE, so i decided to go out and have fun)

So far so good - no tickets, but a GT something with a spoiler picked the wrong hill to pass grannys and learned too late that they slow down there because there is a nice young policeman who likes to sit at the base of the hill and do his paperwork... We respect him and try not to add to his work load. GT got to help out the local economy.

Train your eye. I know people with radar detectors who get more tickets than me.

'99 Civic Si, 2 speeding tickets in 5 years/60,000 miles; '05 STi, 0 tickets in 14 months/11000 miles; '05 RX-8 (driving it like I stole it) 0 tickets so far. I've learned how to keep my eye open, and since I do track days, I've probably slowed down a bit on the street. Having said that, as a rule, I am always going 5-10 over the speed limit unless I am in a hurry.

I got my car 3 years ago next month. I have not gotten a speeding ticket, but I have been pulled over THREE times since I've had the car. There is no doubt in my mind that the cops are out for sports cars. I do not drive any faster on the highway in this car than any car I've had in the past.

Twice I was pulled for speeding and talked my way out of it. The other time I was pulled for no front plate (wasn't even speeding, just pulled for the plate). I had to go to court for the plate violation because it's points in Virginia. They threw the charge out since I put the plate on.

69,700 miles never been pulled over.
I think my yellow 8 blends in well. OR there are so many dam cars and bored cops in New Jersey I couldn't speed if I wanted to???

I got my first ticket in 3 years just 3 months into my TI RX8. Zapped from behind from an interstate onramp. I have a Valentine 1 and I don't think I was paying enough attention. Anyway, hired a lawyer and got a PJC. Guess I'll have to slow it down for a good while. What was kind of funny was that in his haste to catch up, the cop blew right past me (I guess he didn't see me cause I had pulled into the middle lane) and stopped on the side of the road to wait for me to pass by.

What state are you in? In many states the PJC means that if you get another ticket in 3 years then the previous ticket will also show up on your record. That is a double whammy for you.

I always paid attorneys to get it reduced to a non point violation of improper equipment (damn speedometer was off).

by the way can you higher a lawyer and have some points reduced even though its been like a couple of months???? how much would it cost?!

That's one reason why I bought the 8, low torque will prevent you from hot ******* lead foot jack rabbit starts.

It allows you use the car what it is meant for... handling.

Haha. I thought the part about the cop was very funny. The dumbass.

Anyways:RX8- 9 months and 1 week of ownership and not a single ticket.
93 Chevy Blazer- 1 ticket doing 88-55. Reduced from 6 points and 350 to 4 points and 128.

NC. Yep 3 years but no insurance points. I've seen the improper equipment thing before but it depends on what the judge in that county is doing. In this county, the PJC is what you can get. Not worried though since I haven't had a ticket in a long time and don't plan on getting another one any time soon. Funny how you either pay the lawyer or pay the judge huh?

Man, I am beginning to feel like I should upgrade to a 911 or something. I'm a working professional and I'm driving a students' car . Well, students are rich these days ...

Its better than paying the insurance companies for many years to come.

In NC a 2 point ticket = 50% insurance increase and 4 point ticket = 150% increase.

It basically comes down to anyone is much better off paying $450 for which is the ticket price +$250 lawyer fee to get the improper equipment.

I am 38 year old business professional and I could buy a 80k Porsche but you got to look at the big picture. I do want to be able to retire one day. Just because some kid either gets money from his parents or spends all of his money on a car doesn't mean you have to.

I really think part of the issue is that forums are frequented by the younger generation so the majority of 30-something individuals with RX8s probably dont post on this board.

For only 7 over?!! That's crazy. Although I was stopped for doing 2 over. I think the cops must have been bored. I was pulled over and the cop said he clocked me going 2 over and he couldn't see my trip permit in the back window, which is pretty funny since it was plain as day!

Last week I got pulled over twice, once for going 73 in a 55 and got a warning. On Saturday I was pulled over doing 91 in a 55 and also got a warning.

I've been pulled over two other times also, once because the cop claimed my car was reported stolen. After about 15 minutes he let me go and said his computer "must have made an error" when he ran my plates. I don't know why he would be running my plates for any random reason since I know I wasn't speeding. I had my cruise control set at 57 in a 55 (all the other cars kept flying past me). The other time I was pulled over the cop told me my tail lights were out and made me get out of the car. Well, it was pretty obvious that my tail lights were working fine when I got out of the car and I pointed that out to him. He then got a little irritated with me, said I was now under suspicious of driving under the influence, made me take a Breathalyzer and looked in my car. He then let me go when everything came out negative.

Each time I got stopped for a dumb reason it has been Portland police that stopped me, so I guess I'm lucky they didn't just shoot me! I think they are just picking on me for having a sports car and it probably doesn't help that I get off work at 11:30 p.m. I see cops all over the place stopping people at that hour and they are usually always sports cars.
