0 tickets in the Rx-8, 1 ticket in the 7 years I have been driving. The fellow above is right, you just have to pay attention and you easyily spot them on the side of the road waiting for you

I think my yellow 8 blends in well. OR there are so many dam cars and bored cops in New Jersey I couldn't speed if I wanted to???
I drove through New Jersey a few years ago, thinking that I'd have a hard time keeping up with the fast pace in the Northeast (compared to the laid-back South). After 10 minutes, I felt like pushing cars out of the way they were so slow.

Amen.

When you speed, you take the risk of getting pulled over. So why bother looking for a cop or not, in most cases by the time you see them it's already too late.

Red, 2004 GT with no spoiler.

In the 1 1/2 years I've been driving it, I've yet to receive a speeding ticket (knock wood). I have been followed many times by the authorities, though. They all seem to want to run my license plate number.

Go figure!

Yes, most 30-somethings have far more sense than the 38yr-oldies like you and I, dean.

Oh, to answer the question, five months and no tix in the '8. Hell, I haven't had a ticket of ANY kind in a decade.

Your handle is Crazy Devil and you have no speeding tickets. I am impressed!

Maybe Crazy Devil simply doesn't speed! I have heard rumors of such things.

I really think part of the issue is that forums are frequented by the younger generation so the majority of 30-something individuals with RX8s probably dont post on this board.

Good point, Dean. Thanks! I feel better now.

Well, let's say I'm careful. Except in areas where I KNOW I can expect heavy patrolling, I'm doing 5-10 over at most on local roads... Except around my immediate neighborhood, where in a couple of areas I'm really cooking. On the highway I'm almost NEVER doing more than ten over (only when passing, for instance, or a run down an onramp), figuring the cops won't waste their time on me.

I have been STOPPED a few times since my last actual ticket, and let off in each instance. Three for speeding, one for not displaying a front plate. The most recent of those was five years ago. I actually have one ticket in the last 14 years, after a string of them as *ahem* "a younger fella".

Basically, it's just a matter of time until I get a ticket (I look at it as an informal tax ), but I'm careful not to really speed because to ME it can mean more than a few points and higher insurance...

Well, there was that time recently that I probed the top-end performance of the '8, but of course that was on a racetrack.

:edit: Oh, now I see what you're getting at. Potential employers in my field have a dim view of an "exciting" driving record, especially if it's recent.

0 tickets in 9 years of driving and I have no idea how. Actually, I've never even been pulled even though I typically ride at 10-20 over the speed limit. Had a few close calls but I've just been lucky so far I guess. I know my day is coming though.

I just got one on the way home. This one's expensive...

$145

At least I got this conversation out of it.

"So how do you like your car?"
"It's great, I love it."
"Yeah, it's pretty slick looking. I don't know of much on the road that can handle like that. I was having a hell of a time trying to catch up to you through those curves."

Nothing wrong with a red rx8--I just got my 2006 rx8 this may, red. before that I had my a red 95 toyota celica that I brought new in 1995, til I upgraded to the rx8.
pulled over for a california rolling stop, but thats it. its just a matter of alway looking ahead of you, not just the car in front of you, and in the rear mirrows--like mentioned above, train your eye.

Not much my eye could do for me this time. It was night and he was hiding on the opposide side of a building...nothing was visible until you went right by him....

My eye has saved me plenty of times but not this one.

shizer, I hate when that happens. I just wish they would give us an autobahn (I lived in Germany three years late 80s, it was sweet!), no one drives the speed limit anymore.
I didnt see any cops at all on my drive to vegas and back last weekend.

I've got three tickets in the last 2 months...

"5mph over" (said i was drag racing a bmw... it was a miata... one of the most confusing conversations I've ever had)
45 in 35mph
Then a 60mph in a 30 tonight My 8500 x50 went off and I was going about 25mph when it stopped going off... not really sure what happened... I am sure that I am fucked for that one though... so so fucked.

I have no tickets in my 8(five months) and none in my wrx(four years). I have only had two speeding tickets in my life and those were when I first got my license. Cops are easy to spot during day driving when they are in obvious positions but at night or when they have well thought out positions it is impossible to see them with out a little help that is why I never leave home without my V1. It has saved me numerous times, atleast 3 times in the last five months of owning the 8.

First ticket in like 6 years tonight. 7 years?

I am always wary but I swear this officer was waiting for me. Lights off, on the side of a major highway, in a skinny shoulder area, completely invisible. $153 for 80 in 60 after he told me I was going 77 when I first spoke to him.

I'm kind of surprised I didn't just get a warning considering there was no one else on the road, my wife was dressed up for dinner out, and I have a very clean record.

The officer never said anything except telling me I was "going 77 approaching 80," requesting my license and proof of insurance, and telling me to read the back of the ticket. In all, he said a total of two sentences to me.

If I was in my old Civic it would have been a warning.

Perhaps this is a rite of passage for a new sports car owner. BTW I have only had my 8 for 1.5 months.
