Yeah, you're likely the rx8club leader for series II miles.

bought in February with 5k on the clock, now it's 13k already
just regular oil changes using Castrol GTX 5W20, half a quart every 600 miles also.
had a failing cat replaced under warranty by Mazda dealer.
went to second Mazda dealer overfilled my oil and had oil in the air intake. had them cleaned everything and replaced the air filter.
back to first dealer for oil changes also fixed my buzzing radio head unit.
car drives pretty well so far. interior is a bit rattly, but thats normal for RX8's.

Just hit 10000 miles this weekend.
No problems other than the MIAC sound and I fixed that.
Check oil about every 2 weeks. I seems to use more during the hot months when I've got the A/C going all the time.

Nice to see that there have been no engine problems reported. My buddy who is a Mazda tech also say they have not really had any engine problems on any 09+ RX-8's.

Ouch that is low mileage. I drive mine like I stole it and I average 19.

I'm probably ready for new tires shortly.

You don't know how the car has been driven. I have about 9K miles on mine and have done six or seven oil changes. My reason for the frequency is due to all the track events I do. Since only ~50% comes out, I like to drain it after every one or two events (especially if it was a really warm day).

Sorry mate but 6 or 7 Oil changes in 9000 miles is just ridiculous...but hey, it is your car and your money.

As I understand it, oil breaks down much faster in high temperature conditions. After three or four hours of driving at wide open throttle conditions, I feel a lot better to get out at least half the oil. For me, it's cheap insurance.

Nope. Change the oil pre storage, push it into a corner of the garage, cover it, wait 3 weeks, put on battery tender 3 weeks, alternate until a burst of warm weather shows up a few months later, drive it for a week or two mid winter, put it back, repeat battery tender routine, unpack in spring.
