His last words "crank it up" were meant for when you restart the engine with everything reconnected. Maybe Jeff should of said 'fire it up" LOL

Doing it the way I just described, you don't disconnect anything (other than removing the spark plugs).
If you put a 1" socket on a 14" breaker bar, you can easily turn the motor over by hand.

Seafoam will not hurt your new plugs

How exactly do you disconnect the ESS connector? I can get to it I just cant release it.

Thanks for any help

Pulling the ESS is easy - from under the car. On a car without lowering springs, you can reach it on your back from in front of the wheel.

Got this figured out
I have no idea how MM did this with one hand with out jacking up the car, hats off. The ESS connector is the most difficult part of this, followed by removing the caps on the intake nipples. I ended up jacking up the car sliding under to where I cold see the ESS connector and could get two hands on it . The end result is well worth it. I let it sit over night, smoked up the neighborhood in the morning
I'm running the other half of the can in the gas tank now.
Idle is smoother, and to my surprise the engine winds up effortlessly, I didn't think I had any issues in this area until after you do this and feel the difference.
For reference I'm at 110km's and I was starting to notice a small stumble at idle. I also did this through the lower intake method.

I did mine in the gas tank as a quick clean up (plus my retired labors would probably be freaked out by the smoke) before a track day last month, car runs great, but the gas mileage has dropped from ~20mpg city/25mpg hwy to 15-18 city/~22 hwy for easy driving. The only thing I can think of is maybe the injectors were dirty and I was using less fuel, now that they're clean, it running very rich again. It has been few tanks since I did it and the mileage has not improved.

Hey Ross, how long since you changed coils, wires, or spark plugs? (not including the last recall from Mazda since they only change out 2 of the plugs)

Is this hard to do? Just wondering cause the stealership would charge me $125. Is that worth it?
