I truly adore this car. I've come to accept the less than perfect mileage, the recalls, the vandalism (yeah I know it's not the car's fault) etc.

If I could change one little thing.... it would be to change the high beams. Often I accidentally turn them on when using the turn signal. I would prefer to have them turn on by pulling forward or some other method that wouldn't be so easily done on accident. :D

I love my baby and can't think of another car I'd rather have (that I can afford). :D

HIGHLY SATISFIED

I've only had her for a month or so, but I got everything that I expected and MORE! The gas is not a problem...I tend to drive fairly conservative 90% of the time and then let it all hang loose the other 10%.

My only gripes are with the previous owner. He certainly did not baby the interior/exterior finishes. The only thing Mazda can do to improve this car is reducing the RPMs in 6th gear. Too many times I shift from 5th to 6th and my RPMs go from 4,000 to 3,500. Not much of a drop.

Overall...I voted HIGHLY SATISFIED

Owner for a year and a half. Love it! Highly satisfied. And even more satisfied with the very recent additions of an RB intake/ram air and RB exhaust. Someone asked me a few months ago, "If you totaled your car today, would you buy another RX-8?" I said without hesitation, "He$$ yes!"

Two years and about 20K miles. No problems... mileage averages 20 mpg. Just had last "RECALL" done. It took 1 hour just got the heat shield otherwise nothing.

When I first got the car it was so out of tune that it was just too quirky to drive. With each new reprogramming it got better. Now it's running "electric smooth!". Very driveable with pretty good acceleration at all speeds. Seems to get stronger.

Very pleased with how it's developed.

The list of good qualities outweighes any negatives so much it is almost laughable. Great fit and finish. Even better handling. Amazing car...especially for the price.

I've had my 8 for about 50 hours now. The only thing I've got to complain about is that my radio's not working properly right now, no sound comes out of the speakers. It's due to go back to the dealership to get all the extra goodies installed lojack, undercoat, tint ect... They're going to check on the radio while it's in the shop. I have to say I love the handling of the 8 everything feels right. My ZX2 is going to get jealous.

i voted highly satisfied. the gas mileage is a problem, but my last car was an '86 Plymouth Gran Fury so the rx-8 is a step in the right direction. my other 2 cars have been an '83 VW Scirocco and a '78 Camaro so the 8 is a totally new experience for me. ive had it for almost 2 months and it makes me look forward to going to work every morning...nuff said

Add me to the highly satisfied crowd. Have only had it for three months, but definitely lovin' it. Fun to drive! Gas mileage around 20 pretty consistent now combination of city and highway each tank. That has not been an issue for me.

I've had my 2005 TiGrey MT for about 8 days now, and have had no problems whatsoever yet. I'll be doing a road trip in it this weekend (about 1100 miles round trip) and we'll see. I'll actually vote when I get back. I do know that I can't seem to wipe the goofy grin off my face when I drive it, so that's a good sign.

I'm an old RX7 guy (88 TII, retired to the garage, 4 other 7s before that), and couldn't live with myself if I didn't get another rotary.

I can't get enough!!!

I must say, I can't get over the fact that this car steers so well. It holds the road like three day old molasses on the counter top. I have driven a 99 Ferrari 355 GTS and although that car is pristine, the RX8 holds turns just as good. People want to race me all the time in my white pearl RX8. I just bought it 5 days ago. I have never been more pleased with an automobile in my life. I do not like the fuel economy on this car, but it's probably due to my lead foot. I am filling it up every 4 - 5 days. This IS 300 wanted to race me tonight and I put a hig hurting on the poor old lexus. This car rocks!!!

I've just sold a 1990 Jaguar XJS convertible that I had a long term affair with. Best looking car I ever owned, and maybe that I ever saw. But I'm going to need a replacement soon. But the Jag needed constant attention, even after I replaced the V-12 with a Chevrolet 350 short block.
I drive a 2003 Toyota truck during the winter and a 1962 MGA roadster during the summer. But neither is a road car like the Jaguar. Same for my wife's Passat.
Right now, the RX-8 is the leading candidate for a highway car. Gas milage of 20 or so is acceptable, and it looks great. But I really do need something reliable. What's your experience with warranty service? What kinds of things go wrong most often? I've seen a few complaints here on the forum, but nothing systematic. I hope to buy something within the next couple of months.
Thanks for any advice.

I looooove my 8. I drive 42 miles one way to work every day and i LOVE it. Thankfully i have the freeways to myself most of the time. I have had her since April and already have 12k miles on her and she keeps getting better.

That being said. Quality of the interior materials is less than stellar. I feel like i need to give people the "be very careful with your feet and fingernails" speech before they get in. Also, durring the last rain storm my left tail light filled up with water. wierd.

Thumbs up Totally Awesome!!!!!!

[FONT=Tahoma][COLOR=Indigo]I couldn't be happier with the vehicle. It has exceeded most of my expectations so far! I have wanted one of these since the RX-7 first came out 25 years ago! I'm on cloud nine!

Owner Satisfaction

Highly satisfied! After 13000 miles and about 16 months, I love the car. My only complaints would be with the gas mileage and the Potenza tires (which are very loud and have developed a "thrumming" sound but still have lots of wear left on them)

Other than that, I haven't had so much fun since my 1975 Triumph TR-7, and of course, everyone knows how reliable a car that was

My 8 is 5 months old now and I'm still very happy with it. My main complain is the paint job and how easy it is to dent and chip the hood. My five year old Geo has a more resistant paint job... Guess long term care plan for these cars should include a repainting at some point. The interior is also VERY easy to mar and scratch. I expect better from Mazda's unique flagship vehicle. Alas, "nothing is perfect".

EDIT: I forgot to mention the lack of protection for the oil coolers and condensor coils. I'm not an engineer but that seems like a mistake. It took me about two months to get my first rock lodged into one of the oil coolers. The Dealership and Mazda both told me that if I mount grills to protect these vital areas I will risk allowing them a reason to void warantee work. Nice...

Never thought that I'd find a replacement for my FIAT 124 sport coupe, not the best car I ever had, but the most fun.

Now-- the RX8 is not only as much fun (in some ways more, but in a couple of ways less fun) but a MUCH better car. (Then again, almost any modern car would be better.)
