ms6 hp will flat out at 5500 while the 8 stop at 8500.
so 0-60 a bit faster, but in longer run RX8 will win every time

The Carrera GT has an 8,000 rpm redline. I guess since I can wind my engine out to 9,000, I will be able to edge one out.

we have a ms6 and 8. When we get to Germany this summer I'll let you know. Parts of the autobahn don't have a speed limit.....

I was behind a MS6 on the freeway we were rolling together at legal speeds, he dropped it a gear gunned it I did likewise and he could not leave me at all and he was going for it in fact there was a point where I started to gain, but backed off because I dont like tickects. I think off the line he would beat me, but if we are both running at speed then the MS6 runs out of steam, no high end performance. I did the same with a Legacy GT and he walked away from me, the Legacy GT is much faster than the MS6.

The Mazdaspeed 3 is going to have the same engine but it's going to be detuned. The engine will not be putting out the same Tourque/HP as the MS6...I read somewhere they are talking about 20-30 less lb/ft & hp. The stupid bulge on the MS6 is there because Mazda designed the engine to drop straight into the MS3 so a front mount intercooler was not a choice. By placing the intercooler on top they are able to just bulge up the hoods on both and drop the engine in either the MS6 or MS3. I test drove both and previously owned a Mazda6 and decided it was time to move over to the sports car. I chose the 8 over the MS6 and would make the same choice over and over again! Why have the soul of a sportscar in a sedan when you can just have the sports car!

ucleadguitar.

Power output for the MS3 is 267 (Might be 260 SAE) bhp
Torque Output is 280 ft/lbs.

Power output is limited to 230 bhp in 1st gear.

Mazda decided not to detune the engine because of the competitive cars that are going to be available during the same timeframe. (Like the 300 bhp SRT-4). The only reason there is any dip in power at all, is due to the exhaust system design. (Its more constrictive on the MS3).

This information current as of the end of april.

They're very different cars, I have the 8, the b-friend has the Speed6. The 6 is very heavy and feels it compared to the 8. He doesn't need to downshift to kick my ***, but he still giggles when he drives the 8 and takes it over 8k rpm. Get both!

My mistake...I read an article on it during Mid April so it must have been before they changed. Regardless, I don't like the look of the MS3. Looks by far go to the 8 IMO.

The 8 with the MS kit is one of the most beautiful car's I've ever seen. I actually like the MS3 myself, especially because of the boost its going to give Mazda. The 3 is by far their most popular car, and bumping that sob to redonkulus power levels is going to be awesome! And it's a hatch! Speed and usability! Who would have thunk.

Im going to chime in here real quick and say a few things, my opinion might be biased because I own a MS6 but hey we all love our cars. I can tell you right now that at any speed a MS6 is faster than a rx-8. How do you know you ask? Well one of my best friends owns one and we have raced (on a closed road of coruse, saftey first) from a stop , from a roll. Yes, I know some people will say "he was a terrible driver, etc etc.." but whatever im just trying to help clear things up. I do have a few small mods done but to tell you the truth it wasn't close. There are some things I do like about the rx-8 though dont get me wrong, I like the look of the car, the high revving engine, etc. But at the end of the day I look at my car and im very happy that I decided to buy the MS6 over the rx-8.

Yes sir, 6 speed. It was in south florida, actually a cool night for down here some where around 70. I think both cars have advantages/disadvantages it just boils down in what your looking for in a car.

I must have checked about 50 links on google and can only find one reference (a 2nd hand one) to a MS6 doing a 0-60 time under 6 sec. All the legit postings are in the range of 6.2 to 6.8. Yet, I find review after review of the 8 with 0-60 times in the 5.8 to 5.9 range. Much more consistent information. Sorry guys, I think you're dreaming... I need more proof than what I see here.

You suck at the internet, and common sense, and...

"It whooshed to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, a half-second quicker than the Accord, and covered the quarter-mile in 14 seconds flat."

That's because that MS6 was having boost cut issues. So a broken MS6 is a bit slower than an RX-8, when the MS6 is working properly it's a good bit faster than the RX-8.

So what your saying is Road & Track, a respectable magazine rated a broken MazdaSpeed 6. I really find it hard to believe. Trust me, I know the MS6 is quick...I test drove one before by the 8...but its also very very heavy.

well just to show you guys that the speed6 is pretty quick. I have time slips of my old runs and have a new video of me racing last weekend. Ran a slower time but it's still pretty quick for a stock car. And yes I lost to Chris in his killer GSX Eclipse.

Some nice times! I know the Speed6 is quick...but the 8 holds its own against one with a good driver.
