Which brings me to an interesting question about debadging, are the badges held on with any hardware or are they just sticky, ie. when they replace my front bumper, is it possible to have them leave it off, or is that going to leave me with 2 to 4 mounting holes? On my mercedes the rear mercedes badge was stickied to the car, where as the model identifier was mounted via hardware.

The badge in question atm is the front one obviously, but any information you have on all of them would be appreciated, I have searched on here and only seen posts about taking it to a body shop to be done... Thanks :-)
sorry about the z comment, it was more of a joke because that car shows up on the forums alot. but hope the 8 gets back to being better.

I hit a dog with my 8 after a few weeks. no damage. the bumper just flexed and popped a couple of the clips in the wheel well. the dumb dog was jogging down the road in the middle of the lane coming at me. I slammed on the brakes and swerved but still managed to clip it. I was pissed. I stopped, check for damage, look behind to see if the dog was off the road, and moved on. I would've checked for tags/owners, but I would've been late for work. The dog wasn't there later that day, so I assume owners found it, or it was just knocked out and it got up and took off. Again, I didn't hit it that hard cause I had no damage.

Exactly what I envisioned when I first saw the title of the thread.

The 8 wouldn't have much against a Bobcat skidsteer. Those are built like a tank.

I wouldn't want to be in the Bobcat if it were hit by an 8 at 70 though....

Well... if it were a skidsteer, I think I might have had the handling, or brakes to prevent such a thing as those don't generally run out in front of you without warning on the interstate. There's normally a guy standing around holding a flag and smoking a joint while napping. At lesat here in VA where it takes 17 years to finish one road.

Have you ever noticed it will seriously take like 5 years to repair 10 miles of highway, but those DOT boys can erect a temporary road overnight that lasts the 5 years worth of repair time? WTH.

I told this to my g/f after I slapped a cat off my trunk. She wasn't happy.

One positive...

The body shop is going to fill the mounting holes, seal, prime, paint my front bumper w/o mazda emblem, but also going to order them emblem anyhow should I want it installed later, at no addional cost to me. Should have my baby back by next Friday, meanwhile I've scuffed, primed, and painted my new Pettit racing radio **** as a welcome home present for her.

Sympathy - Comprehensive insurance (at least with allstate would cover it)
Bad luck hitting a bad cat - we have one of those wretched chicken killing peacock eating monsters around here but it hasn't
waited for me to hit it!
Be glad it wasn't a cougar!

+1...I, too, pictured a small earth moving piece of equipment--not a 100lbs. cat.
Not that I really care, but are bobcat's considered "endangered" or "protected" speicies?

It seems like a lot of damage, but imagine hitting something that's the heigh of your bumper, at ~70 mph, that weighs ~30 lbs. It becomes a miniture brick wall...
