I just recently purchased (a week and a half ago) my 2004 RX8 GT version for $21,995 with 30k miles on it. I really wanted titanium gray and 6 speed as well as the GT version as it was a hell of a lot better to drive every day (I love the bose system, leather seats, 8 way power seats, xenon bulbs, heated seats, etc). It's the little things like that which make the car so much more comfortable and enjoyable (although the rotary engine puts the biggest smile on my face). As it retails for sale at $25,000 , I thought even though it is my dream car, I was getting a great deal.

So 21,995 is high? if the dealer value from kbb.com is 25,000 , why should the price be that much lower?

Keep in mind that the BB values don't take into account regional supply and demand, and then the individual factors around the vehicle in question (who drove it, how, when during the year, etc.).

Was 21,995 the price after tax and etc or was it base price that the dealer offered you. If it is base price then I am getting a better deal if not then you got a better deal because isnt the taxes and the other stuff make the car around $5k more then the listed price?

Ya thats what im thinking too now to get an 05. But are the 8s selling or are they slow in the market because the dealer told me that they are selling fast so he wont lower the price for me, or something like that.

^^^Jeezus, the dealer is full bullshit. What I suggest is a cooling period. Don't talk to that dealer for a week or so, and make calls to other dealers around your area. Search autotrader.com. Eventually you'll find a deal that will fit you.

I bought my 04 RX-8 titanium grey GT with 27000 miles, red and black leather, bose, etc a week and a half ago for 21995 as well. Sounds like our dealers are reading from the same playbook Got mine in Nashville. You?

Trust me, I made the mistake of rushing into things and ended up with a with a ton of issues that could have been avoided if I had been patient. And it took me more than a month to find the car, so don't expect to have a deal fall right into your lap. It's gonna take at least 2-3 weeks before you finally pull the trigger on a car.

If you look at Carmax (Click Here ) their 2004 RX-8 prices range from $19,600 to $22,600 based on mileage, features and location. This is about the same price my local Mazda dealer prices their used RX-8s and the sale prices quoted above.

From what I have seen, in general, RX-8s have a pretty consistent "retail" value which has always a little high but apparently the cars are selling at that price.
