highest rpm you've hit in each gear?

there's lots of love for the 9,000 beep around these parts...

so in 'normal' driving (not at the track, etc)

1) what's the highest gear you've gone to 9000 in?
2) what's the highest rpm you've reached for each gear?

1st - maybe I'm wrong but this doesn't seem like the gear you'd want to redline
2nd - sure
3rd - probably
4th - ?
5th -?
6th - does anyone even get close to 9000?

In normal driving (not at the track) why would anyone admit to redlining past 3rd gear?

I have heard the same thing 6speed

why would redlining in 1st gear be a bad thing?

I would have to say in the week that I have had my 8 I'm sure I have redlined 1st and 2nd a few times.

Redlined in 4th too, on a magic race track called the Gandy Bridge. I don't think you can redline 6th.

I think you are right mysql101 if you could it would take A LOT of road to do so and I think the computer cuts of fuel before then.

Here's a guy in Greece. Redlined in 5th but only made 7500 in 6th.

with a turbocharger and a mild boost setting, you can double your hp, so then it might happen :>

that looks FI.

let's see... i redlined 4th a very long time ago. now i only do it to 3rd. max rpm in 5th is probably 5000-6000 and 6th is under 5000.

right, I'm not expecting people to redline the higher gears...so

1- 9,000
2- 9,000
3- 8,000
4 - can be done, but mostly 7,000 max or so?
5 - 6,000
6 - 5,000

is that most people?

I just want to put a disclaimer on my redline mentioned above that it was on my way to 142mph, currently my highest speed in the 8.

I've redlined 5th at a high 140 something or low 150 something mark ((mph)) ....6th gear I don't have enough power to even keep it at 7500

i "imagine" this is what an rx8 with a RB REVi Intake, RAM air, and Mazdspeed Sport Exhaust can do on a nice strait away

1st ~> 9500 45 mph
2nd ~> 9500 70 mph
3rd ~> 9500 90 mph
4th ~> 9500 110 mph
5th ~> 8500 135 mph
6th ~> 7000 138

but i'll have to wait till i'm on a "track" to confirm it
