Royal Purple Lays Smack Down on Redline due to "Water Wetter" Contamination

So, a customer of Royal Purple believes he has a blown headgasket, and sends a coolant sample to Royal Purple to see what they can glean from it, ostensibly in terms of fashioning a good faith and/or warranty remedy in the event the oil was problematic.

But, what follows is the smack down of all smack downs as Royal Purple finds via repeated, controlled lab tests, that Redline Water Wetter is the source of the precise contamination that has turned up in the customer's coolant (he had added Water Wetter to his coolant).

What's the truth? I don't know, but this is compelling enough to post as a PYA (Protect Your ***(ets) service announcement, because...

Interesting. Glad I haven't put that in my radiator.

I ran it with coolant, made a nasty slimy floating deposit in the rad.

man that's some nasty stuff. Interesting read too. I imagine some uninformed folks who ended up tearing their motor down to fix a supposed blown head gasket wouldn't be too happy to read that write-up.

Thank god that's something I'm not gonna have to bother with.

I been using WW in a few different cars now(30/70 mix), never saw this black stuff... Interesting.... I'll keep a eye out and swap coolant if I feel it's needed.

Have used WW in the Rx-8, but only with a 100% Distilled water. never saw the black blobs/sludge described.

Never did add it to coolant or a water/coolant mix. Didn't know the WW foumula changed to start allowing it to be mixed with coolants.
