Rotary Valve Stem Caps

Hey, quick question. I was thinking about ordering the Rotary shaped valve stem caps for $19.99 online. I was wondering if any of ya'll who have these or did have these could let me know if yours have ever gotten stolen. I know some of my friends have some and some of theirs have gotten stolen and I was wondering what ya'll thought about it and if people actually stole the rotary ones since most people probably don't even know what they are. I was thinking that if I left my car someplace sketchy or parked it outside one night I could easily take them off and replace them with the regular black ones in the meantime.
Thanks a lot!

I've had mine since Christmas and all 4 are still on there. *knocks on wood*
They're a nice and subtle mod that other rotary enthusiasts always get a kick out of. I say go for it.

depends on the inserts in them..there is a TSB because some caps corrode to the stem and when you try and take it off to put air in or ETC. Pop there goes your stem and you are off to spend some cash on a new stem and the TP UNit they only come together. ..plastic for me..

The rotary caps look really nice, but they're triangular and thus stick out at the end and alter the vertical line of the stem trunk. For that reason, I like the curled aluminum ones in the $5 tire pressure kit @ Autozone. They color match the OEM rim really nicely and look sleek. Plus, if they get stolen, they're only $5 to get another set of 4... So, I just bought 2 boxes for $10 and have some spares.

I had my plastic OEM caps stolen and found out it's $120 each to replace those, since Mazda only sells them w/ the tire pressure sensor...

Your Mazda dealer may stock them or order them:

Here's what the autozone kit I mentioned looks like, approximately:
(The caps come inside the kit.)

Did they get stolen at night? Did you park your car at night or did they just get stolen in some parking lot someplace?

Hmm... I can see that you're worried about this.

Well, not to play devil's advocate, but honestly I think that asking if they are going to get stolen is kinda like asking if it's ever going to rain... <LOL> If even my regular black OEM plastic ones got stolen right out of my underground office parking lot here in Beverly Hills, then I can imagine a lotta teenagers stealing the rotary-shaped ones- just cuz they look cool...

Therefore, if you like the rotary ones you just should buy them, put them on, and enjoy them. But, just be prepared to buy replacements or stock up on them ahead of time if you ever park your car in any public place.

Yes, people who steal **** suck *** and should be prosecuted! But, what can we do... That's just the way life is. I think if you search the forum, you'll notice lotta people get their fender strakes stolen right off their cars too...

Yeah, I'd be so pissed if someone stole my strakes that I had Mazda install onto my car. Cost me almost $400 for those stupid 4 metal pieces, but I don't regret doing it. Anyways, I hope you're wrong about the teenager thing because guess what? I'm 17... so it's going to be around teens quite a bit.

I was only generalizing and wasn't implying that you do stuff like that...

Honestly though, my own experience is that it is usually high school kids & teenagers that steal stuff off people's cars, sadly... Most working adults don't have the time, patience, or inclination to lurk around parking lots looking for something to rip off- be it an iPod left in plain view, or an acura emblem to use as a keychain, or valve stem caps! LOL. We're usually too tired at the end of the work day, and it's just as easy to buy those kind of things for ourselves...

Ya, I know kids do that. I have some friends that were actually talking about how they stole these things. I got pissed, and I had never heard of anyone actually doing it for fun. Pretty stupid if you ask me. You must be reeeeaaaaallly bored if the only thing you can think of to do is go steal some "chromies" as this kid was calling them. Wow.

When I was a teenager, a fad among the JDs was to swipe the Wolfsburg crest from VWs. At some point VW stopped putting them on the cars.

I love my Rotary valve stem caps! I would not put them on my wheels unless my car was in a show or at SS9!

I actually order a set about a week ago and have'nt received them yet. The guy said that he would look into it . Hope to receive soon. I did have a set on my Mazda 3 the ones you buy at Autozone. One day there where to kids looking at my car, I'm thinking okay they're admiring the damn car . well when I went out a few minutes later, they were gone. Little asses probably took them for their bikes that they were riding. Anyway the next day I went out and bought another set ( 3 bucks for 2) and a couple of weeks later the kid are back. This time theres no way in Hell that was going to happen, so I went out and bitch them out. Have'nt seen them since. The whole thing is that people take a chance at getting their *** kick , for stupidity.
