Remote while Running

My remote doesn't work while my 8 is running. I have tried to pop the trunk as well as lock/unlock the doors.

What I want to do is start the car, get out of it and then lock the doors while it warms up. What I have to do to get around this is open the door, hold the little black button (if I don't do that then the doors automatically lock themselves) then lock the doors with the lock button and finally shut the door. Then I have to use the key to open the door.

Is there anyway to get the remote to work while the 8 is running?

Can't get around it, that is a safety function so you don't accidentally operate the locks while driving. I don't have a wiring diagram here, but you may be able to see if there is a wire providing ignition power to the keyless control module. Manipulating this wire somehow may help you...

Cheers

In the winter when it is cold out I like to start the car with a spare key, then get out of the car, and lock the doors while the car starts up.

My work around has been to get out of the car, leave the door open, hold the button that makes the car think the door is shut, press the lock button the door, then let go of the first button and shut the door.

There's a trunk button? I've actually looked for one, but couldn't find it.

*Please* don't tell me to read the manual. I've read it at least twice and I guess I just keep overlooking that part.

It wasn't part of an option package, was it? That would be so stupid. So many cars have standard trunk releases.

Yes - there is a boot (trunk) release button.. :D

It is below the coin tray, but above the bonnet (hood) release. :D

It is nowhere near the fuel (gas) door release.. :D

Thanks! I looked in the glove box first, and then near the fuel door release like you mentioned.

The only times that thing where you shouldn't shut down right away after starting a rotary managed to bite me was when I'd throw my knapsack in the trunk after work. I'd start the engine, and then realize the CD I wanted to play was in the pack. I tried working the remote while it was running like the original author. Just listened the the radio on the way home, those days.
