Unless you have issues with this engine I would carefully mind my comments.....last thing you want is for them to get pissed off at this point

If you have issues again...I would go up the food chain...but because they are still fixing things and haven't said NO....I would lay low and document things

Nothing pisses customer service people off more than people they perceive as whiners and complainers...( even if you are not)....

Thanks Dannobre, that's good advice. My only issue is with them tellin me it's "fixed" and then wasting 300$ flying back to Victoria only to have the car die on the way back to Calgary.

I agree with all of you on the fact that the oil nozzle fix is a joke. However, i'm still concerned about the possibility of another issue. I'm hesistant to blame all the failures on simply reman assembly issues.

Also to add, I have been nothing but polite. Honestly have just given them the facts and voiced my concerns on the matter. My main point was that if I am right then I am saving them the money of wasting another engine.

Update from Mazda Canada:

Oil nozzle and driver are being replaced. Another engine (again which is supposedly brand new) are going in the next few days.

I will probably fly to Victoria next weekend to retrieve the car.

I tried to ask them what they would do if this 4th engine fails but they said that they wouldn't entertain the "what if" scenario until it happens.

Hey guys, I haven't updated the thread about my own engine, but a dealer in LA is replacing my engine because Rotor 1 compression was below spec. They just called me today to tell me that they put in the reman, it ran, and they drove the car for a bit. But when they did a compression test, it was below spec. Did not say which rotor. So now Mazda is sending a 2nd reman...

Not enough data to draw conclusions, but I am starting to wonder if there's a QC issue at the reman plant.

So you would think they would do a test before shipping. But that's just to easy to think of

No, I'm an SII like Shumster.

That's ridiculous Jastreb. Sorry to hear than man. I'm curious to know which rotor it was...
Thanks. I'm not getting too frustrated yet. This dealership has been good at communication, and they gave me a 2014 Mazda 3 loaner. I miss my 8, and looking forward to getting her back, but getting 35 mpg on my commute is nice too...

Next time I talk to them, I'll ask which rotor was below spec.

I asked Mazda Canada for a loaner, they said we'll talk if the 4th engine fails. Awesome.

Lol...that's so bad. I'd be smearing their name all over social media. It worked for me when I had a similar situation with my daily Hyundai.

Haha trust me i've thought about it. But so far they've been pretty good with trying to move forward by putting in engines without charging me. I would only resort to that if there was no progress.

That being said! They finished with the car today and took it for a 30KM drive already, so far so good. They have all week to make sure things are perfect, and then if all is well I will be flying back to Victoria on Friday to retrieve her.

Also it's my Birthday today! Big 20. I feel old.

I'm hoping the drive back will reignite the love, because there is this Bathurst RX7 in Vancouver that I have my eye on. It makes me sad though because I never thought I'd consider selling the 8. Hoping these doubts disappear when I get her back!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone.

Ok just got off the phone with Mazda again. Apparently they are putting MOTOR OIL 5W-20 into the fuel tank. I'm really confused on this. I've never heard of that before but apparently it was recommended by the regional service people.
At first I was thinking he was putting in 2 stroke premix. But no straight up 5W-20.

Is that ok? They put a liter into the tank

Haha well I implore one of you to call Pacific Mazda Victoria and talk with the service manager! Anyway, i'm planning on heading to Vic on friday to rescue her! They said they have put about 100KMs on this engine and it seems ok.

In regard to the oil though, is it something I should be worried about? would it cause any damage? Probably gum up the fuel injectors...

I would imagine a Heavy motor oil mixture like that may cause some issues.

Unbelievable.

A liter is a quart U.S. right? That is a lot of engine oil to put in the gas tank, do not let them do that.

9K they already did. ****, ok well i'm gonna call them and ask for the name of the guy that recommended that. Can you explain to me the harm it could actually cause though? Just so that I have some background knowledge when I call them

And ya liter and quart are pretty much the same

Honestly this biggest issue I could see if a gummed up fuel filter and possibly the injectors. I mean it will probably be okay, but it is hard to say to be honest. Engine oil is not designed to be poured into gasoline and mixed. 2 stroke oil is designed to be mixed and burned ash free, but not normal engine oil. It's just stupid thinking honestly, there is no reason at all to do that.
