RB Exhaust in today - My observation

Tough to compare because adding an intake changes the tone and adding a midpipe or high flow cat changes it dramatically.
I like the Hymee SS nice double walled tips keep them from golding, sound is good.
The Borla is very subtle deeper but not loud, has the stock tone but deeper.
Turbo XS I heard was on a turboed 8 so that acts as a resonator. It wasn't loud at all, nice 3 inch piping but the tips need to extend past the bumper because it likes to melt the surrounding plastic even if not touching.
I have the Greddy SP2 with the SR high flow. Have been very tempted to put a resonator on it. I might have to go with a turbo to quiet it down. It is nice using the exhaust to express my feelings at the time. I would much rather use an exhaust than a one tone horn. I can almost use it to talk to people
The Greddy tips aren't double walled and gold up but with some English Custom polish they can be shined up to silver. I like how they look. It lessened the number of times people asked if the exhaust came out of the rotary accent.
I tried getting one of the guys I work with some attention when he was between a police car and me at a stop light.

I like it, I drive with the windows down when I can, and try not to irritate too many people. Some times I just can't help myself.
The one TurboXS system that I saw, had melted the plastic shrouds pretty bad. But he has since had new tips out on that extend out far enough to eliminate that problem. It was not that loud IMO. The last group meet we had, the different exhaust notes were judeged, as some of us left the parking lot, and the TurboXS was considered to be one of the quieter sounds, almost stock sounding. The RB unit was louder, and even louder with the intake installed too. I can't remember wehre the Borla fit in.

I think the borla was close to the RB. Also my RB Intake/Exhaust was more aggressive sounding than someone else with the same setup from what I recall. Which I think relates to a statement earlier that the RB gets better with age. But... L8's Teem Moon Exhaust/RB Intake sounds better than any of the rest of our group. I've also watched fireballs fly when he was gearing down to 3rd on TGPR entering turn 1.
Did I say his Teem Moon Rocks?

Someone else said it does it when gearing down on the front straight at RoadAtlanta too. TGPR it did it when coming off of very heavy throttle and rev matching.

OK, here is L8APEX's exhaust. We recorded it tonight in the parking lot at Andretti's. I'll record mine later this weekend.

Well, I tried to record both the exhaust and engine bay while driving instead of being parked. Then sync the two together and output a combined mp3. The audio in the trunk of the exhaust is fine but muffled and the engine bay is OK until I get on it and the small DV cam recording from the engine bay doesn't have the audio capabilities of the sterio unit recording from inside the trunk. So the audio peaks and is a bit harsh. But I think you will get the idea of what's going on. I will record it whiile stationairy and see if that doesn't do a better job. The wind noise and other car sounds of a moving car is a real audio nightmare and not being able to have an external mic for the exhaust doesn't help either.

are there external mics for the average MiniDV video camera? I am going to buy a mic setup before our next track event, because I am tired of hearing too much wind noise. It is loud in a car at 100+ MPH with the windows down.

My small DV cam has one. It's a Canon Elura 70 and the big one (Canon XL1) has great audio. I have a Radio shack extension and mini mic that run under the dash and are tucked into a small spong to muffel any noise. Works great at the track. Last time I tracked at Road Atlanta the battery in the mic was dead so I had to revert back to the camera mic and that sucks big time.
