No, its not too noisy at all. It only becomes noisy when you want it to be noisy. If you are just riding the gas pedal it wont be loud, but you may notice the overall tone inside of your car to be a bit deeper. When you do step on the gas, the deep sound becomes a bit louder but no where near the point where it becomes annoying.
The exhaust sounds the loudest and deepest at 5k rpm (it gradually gets louder while you climb up to 5k). At 5.5k the sound becomes less noticeable and not as loud. You begin hearing the engine more than the exhaust. After 5.5, you have to realy press the gas pedal to make it sound loud.
It does not sound like the G35 exhaust at all IMO. The G35's stock tone sounds throaty and a bit hollow IMO. An rx8 with an RB exhaust has a unique tone. It sounds very smoooooth and deep, just how it was meant to be. Deep is the word that you can describle the RB exhaust best with. It may not be very loud, but it is deep and a noticeable difference from the stock exhaust. Not to mention it looks 10x better!
I'll post up pics soon.

A discussion in another thread made me want to bring this old one back up and comment on my thoughts after a year of driving with the RB CatBack. Also, there may be some new people on board that would like to read this thread as well.
To this day, I still drive with my stereo off and the windows down to listen to my exhaust. I still love it just as much today as I did when I installed it last September. I was told that it would get better with age and it has. Plus the addition of the RB Intake with cold air duct has made it even a better note. I can't wait to hop in my car and go for a ride. Oh boy, it's almost 5:00 PM and time to go home!

My biggest complaint about the stock exhaust is that it's difficult to hear/feel the low RPMs (below 1-1.5K RPM). My roommate's Subaru STI has this wonderful little deep burble at low RPMs.

As far as my original comment about STI's low burble (which I was implicitly jealous of), I am actually quite happy now -- when the Racing Beat exhaust is warmed up, the low-end rumble when driving at low RPMs (esp. revving a little bit when feathering the clutch or at less than 3000RPMs) is awesome. The RB exhaust really adds great low-end to the car's sound. Delicious!

Silver - where's your first clip?
I've been torn about which exhaust I want, and a couple days ago I heard the RB in person. It had a nice tone and was louder than I thought it would be, because so many people here on the forum have said it doesn't sound much, if at all, louder than the stock exhaust. It sounded great, but I'd like to hear it again at different RPMs.

Here it is again so you don't have to search the thread: RB Catback (Quicktime audio)
It's pretty large (14+ megs) so don't expect a quick load.

After hearing the RB Exhaust in person it sounded very.....mature. It's low and mellow - an almost smooth exhaust. Very different from the Greddy, which is loud and very "look at me im coming!"
I'm torn between the hymee and the RB catback, I'd love to hear the hymee in person, but I don't know of anyone in the dfdub who owns one.

Yeah I'd love to hear more Hymee clips too, since I'm getting it.
Sorry to hijack...but hey speaking of the RB catback anyway, it sounds great with the RP supercat, and I'm sure it will sound just as good with the new RB midpipe.

Or just post you want to be Gold in this thread: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...88#post1494788
I still haven't heard the RB in person.
Heard the Hymee, Borla, Greddy, and TurboXS.
I would like to hear the Spintech catback in person too.

I am partial to mine, I have heard most of them in person, except for the Hymee, and have never heard of the Spintech, and still like the low rumble that mine has at idle, and low throttle. It is essentially a Magnaflow system, but built custom.
