I'd like to say that I have a Silver and have had no problems at all, no brake squeeks, no hesitation on gear changes, very good power throughout, no rattles or noises, acceptable MPG's, no flooding, and most of all not a scratch thus far on the body and I've had it since September. Ok, that's not long but I hope I am the one to prove the curse of the Silver has ended. :D

Uh Oh, I may have Jinxed myself now...

Mabr0003:

If the car had not run as good as the car you test drove since you had it then why didn't you exchange it within the first 30 days you picked it up, it sounds to be quite a lemon to me which EVERY car manufacturer has so don't hold it against the RX-8. I really hope things work out for you and they get you another.

That's kind of a ridiculous requirement. What about new people who have spent a long time reading through all the previous posts, and then want to discuss something new because they couldn't find it? And do you really think that a post requirement will do anything other than make people post stupid one word sentences to get their post count up? The number of posts a person has made has NO connection to the validity of their contributions. (Many people with lots of posts are the ones who contribute the least new information, and instead, chime in on every thread with their often useless comments.)

I agree with gansan. I haven't purchased my eight yet because I didn't want a first year model. Listening to this guy just makes me feel good about my decision. I think some people might forget what a forum is for: to discuss the topic of the car. You have to take the good with the bad sometimes.

Well Jud--remember that there are far more people with 1st year 8s that don't have any problems. I haven't had any problems with my RX8 whatsoever---and honestly I haven't heard any rattles (but then again I listen to the sound of the rotary or my music extra loud).

Hello everyone, I got the red girl back on Wednesday after the THIRD flash on the computer and I do have to say that it is running 100% better!!! I am still irritated with the rattles that they do not hear when it is in...I even went for a ride with the technician and we didn't hear the stupid rattles and of course when I got home the rattles started again immediately! We have decided to store the car for the winter because of the horrible handling in the snow & I don't want to buy the tires/wheels for it. So I am hoping maybe the rattles will disappear in the warmer weather. We will see how she runs in the spring. Maybe my car just does not like the winters here...I can't blame her--I know I don't!!!
Thank you to everyone who responded, and by the way, as far as turning the car back in, I had already attempted that (contacted the attorney general's office) and the lemon law for the state of Minnesota is very strict saying it has to be in FOUR times for the same unsuccessful mechanical repair (the rattles & squeaks don't count). We are at THREE but now it seems to be OK, so we will see what happens in the spring. Regardless of these troubles, I think of not driving it for a few months and it does sadden me just a little bit Strange huh?? But I think you obsessed RX-8 owners all understand

Thumbs up No problems, only pleasure, thrills, and excitement!!!

:D Only 6000 miles but nothing to complain about! As I've said before, "She does take some coaxing but once you understand her soul, she never will fail to respond, and give more than she ever takes!!!

Really! Just chiming in here. :D

I have not experienced any of the problems to the extent mabr0003 states. Idle is going to be strange on a rotary vs pistons. Normal. I have one small rattle, but only shows up on the worst roads, so Im not worried.

The car is rock solid, never failed to start, accelerates when asked and just an overall excellent value.

92% of the 1300 RX-8 owners on this list who have responded to a satisfaction survey are satisfied: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...faction+survey

I don't say this to minimize mabr0003's problems but only to put them in perspective.
