Smile Drooling parts shop guys

Well, after a year I've finally had my moment. Went by the parts store yesterday to pick up a 21mm socket for my torque wrench (time to swap tires due to weather here). I had brought in one of my new lugs to double-check against the socket and then took the socket outside to match against my stock lugs. In the meantime, two of the parts guys were outside completely sizing up the car. It was great! :D

I opened the doors on the driver side to let them look around inside and they were both nearly beside themselves. Neither wanted to touch anything even though one guy called it his dream car.

Funny thing is, it was pretty dirty too. I can't imagine if I had brought it by clean w/ a fresh wax job to match...

Get use to it. I had a 65 y/o man get out of his car ( a mercedes) at red light and come up to my window like he was going to carjack me and say what type of car is this? I love it.

Haha, yeah. Last night, I went out w/ some friends to the area in Rochester where the strip of all the clubs and bars are (Alexander St.) and was waiting for them to come out and somehow had found a parking spot dead in front of one of the most popular places, which is where they all were. While waiting there, I got a lot of looks (even w/ my snow tires/rims and a not very clean car) from people passing by. I hadn't seen most of the people since I got my car and when they all came out, they were all, like, "Holy crap! This car is sweet!" and comments like that. It's pretty fun

Hehe, when I went to the Ford dealership to look at the new mustang with my friend I parked the 8 right infront of the showroom which had the stang. Lets just say the RX-8 is a gorgeous machine.

Friday night I went to the Irvine Spectrum (huge outdoor mall) to get some dinner and parking was horrible so I decided to Valet. The attendant opened my door and asked if I would like it parked up front. I didn't quite hear him so I said "excuse me?". He asked again if I would like my car parked in the front and he stated that he had a couple of Ferrari's up there and a couple other cars. I replied "That would be great" as I walked off with a grin on my face.

It made my night. My 8 parked next to the exotics right in the front.

Your 8 was dirty? I think it is our duty to keep our 8s clean 98.9% of the time. Everytime I see an RX-8 around here(Columbus, GA), is dirty. All I can do is bow my head in disapointment...

I love it when people stare and talk about it when no one is in the car not knowing who the owner is. I've noticed it attracts all demographics.

If you figure out a way to wash your car outside in 11 degree weather, I'll keep it clean. Until then, my car will have to stay dirty until the spring. :p

In my apartment parking complex, I bumped into a Modena owner with his face glued to the windshield staring into my 8. He had nothing but flattering words.

Needless to say, that felt rather uplifting =)

i admit that Rx-8s get a second look from me whenever i see them, especially that Charcoal Gray color. they have grown on me considerably, to the point that i'd like to get the chance to own one someday. however, i still get people looking and asking about my Rx-7 (Gen I) and THAT feels really good ...

Agreed...our weekends have been cold the last few weeks with the only "warm" days being during the week (warm being a realtive term). By the time I get home from work, the sun's starting to go down; and it's already too cold for even the brave to attempt a car wash. I just did get my snowshoes on the evening before the first snow. Timing's everything I guess.
