Problems with engaging cruise.

I searched a bit, and couldn't find anything like this. There was something kind of like it but it was in the Canada forum in 2004.

Whenever I engage cruise for the first time (not resume), my engine will accelerate until it hits the top of the powerband for that gear (AT) and then coast back down to the speed I set it at. Is this normal? I assume not. What should I do? Scared the crap out of me today when I set it at 45 mph and I rocketed up to 53 or 54. That can't be safe with traffic in front of you and what not...

Definitely not....

It should just lock onto the speed you are going when you hit SET.

Take it into the dealer!

Sounds like you got a warranty gripe.
