probably not getting an 8...

sucks to even say it... but i doubt ill be getting an rx8 now, money is the problem and after looking at having to take a paycut due to what job i may get, i wont have enough for rent, car payment, and insurrance.

it really blows... i was excited too but oh well. I hope to still haunt the board but its kinda pointless.

Eric

yeah i really want one but here is some backstory...

i race desert on a quad, i was planning on getting the car and paying it off before i get out of trade school (about a year from now) and then later on buying a truck, obviously i cant really cart around the quad with my car so ill probably end up just getting a truck and maybe down the line if i can afford it a car, so its probably gonna be 4-5 years or so till i can get a car which sucks but oh well.

So oddly enough "az-rotary" might never own a rotary car lol.

Time to go out and kick myself for buying a civic.

Yeah, give it some time in a couple of years from now you could probably get an early 8 for really cheap. At least you're thinking rationally and not running out and getting in over your head.

i was going to be buying a used one, but im only 18, the cheapest insurrance i can find is 275$ a month, ive never been in an accident or had any tickets or anything. Just cuz of my age, and im a full time student aswell, so paying 350-550$ rent depending on where i move to after the place im in now, with 275$ a month insurance, with car payment, with gas, with groceries, etc etc etc...

maybe someday in the future.

see if you can get a credit card with $15k on it. Pay for the car with it, and you only need to get liability insurance, which will be ~$90 maybe for you. Full coverage cheapest for me is like $500/month but my liability is $130, because im 17.

Dude, get the Civic Si if you're gonna go for a Honda Civic. Just test drove it today, and it was shockingly close to the RX-8. The only downside is FWD. Aside from that, it handles like it's on rails, and has power in the VTEC range to boot!

And it's a real sedan too if you forgo the coupe.

2nd job

Extra $100-$110/week should do it. You want the car...go work an extra 6-10 hrs a week at ur job or get 2nd job with that many hours. Pretty much ur only option at this point in your life. Otherwise, save up $ in ur savings, keep credit clean and get one when ur ready.

Uh. Why buy a car he cannot afford at the moment? Things can wait, especially cars.

ditto. his interest rate would probably start somewhere in the teens and go into the 20's later on.
