Help!!! I need a favor... can someone real quick...

As most of you know, I'm without car due to a bobcat accident, I'll be getting the baby back next saturday, in the meanwhile, I'm doing somethings for it I've been meaning to do, but I need some measurements...

Could someone run to their driveway/garage and measure these things for me...

Front cup holders, diameter at bottom, and diameter at top, as well as the depth of the cylinder itself, and the ammount of clearance between the cylinder and the sliding lid.

(I'm fabbing a docking charger for my pda cell phone)

Also, the height's and widths of the front grill, front center air dam opening (with appearance kit), both of the cooler openings on the front, and the width and height of the back grill on the rear bumper.

This would be amazing if someone could do this for me. thanks so much! I'd go measure on my car at the body shop, but alas, they are closed and it's 3.5 hours from here.

Bottom ? Just get yourself a Can of soda, measure the bottom and add about 7mm to the diameter.

Top is about 2 Can of soda + 1.74cm
Cylinder itself is about 1/4 soda can height. (more like 1/2)

I changed my grill already(MS bumper) so cant help u with grill and front center air dam opening. or whatever has to do with bumper. (both front and back)

Diameter of single cup holder at bottom=2.75"
Diameter of single cup holder at top=3.25"
Depth of cup holders (cylinder only)=2.5"
Total length of both cup holders at the bottom=6.5"
Clearance between the bottom of the cup holders and the underside of the sliding lid=4", maybe a hair more (hard to see).

[QUOTE]Also, the height's and widths of the front grill, front center air dam opening (with appearance kit), both of the cooler openings on the front, and the width and height of the back grill on the rear bumper.QUOTE]
Front grille:
Width at the top=25.5"
Width at the bottom=about 18" (bottom is not well defined due to shape)
Height in the middle=7"

Air dam opening:
Total length=39"
Height at widest point=3"

Fog light opening:
Total length including light=12"
Horizontal distance between light and end of opening=7"
Maximum height=3.5"

Rear "grille":
Total length=38"
Height at widest point=2.5"

Good luck with your project!

CYA: Since the grille/air dam/fog light openings are complex shapes, they do not lend themselves to characterization with such few measurements as presented above. Therefore, the numbers for the openings should be considered approximate.

Go48,

Agreed, you just earned mad karma points, thanks for the info. I know the openings are complex shapes, but I wanted to be able to calculate in square, as I'll be adding some sort of grills to the openings to protect all the brand new stuff the insurance company was so kind as to pay for, and for ordering purposes needed to be able to square it all off. Thanks so much!!!

I'll post pics of my charging cradle for yall when completed.

Again, thanks so much for the information.

You mean protective screens? See the attached pic. The oil cooler screens are the RB units. The screen for the air dam opening is something I fabricated myself out of a sheet of mesh steel that was similar in appearance to the grille material.

BTW, most of the grille is not open, so I didn't do anything to protect that. Take a look.

Got it at my local Lowe's hardware. I would have preferred aluminum, but they didn't have that. Cutting the steel was a PITA, but I managed to do it with tin snips. The size of the sheet made it necessary to make the screen in two pieces. Here are some additional pics. I actually fabed some screens for the oil cooler openings as well but decided to go with the RB screens instead.

That is exactly what I intend on doing, and since my car is the same color you also just answered my question about about how it would look on my car, you're great. The 2 piece for the airdam is also brilliant I would have never thought of hiding a seam behind the rotor accent without the car being in front of me, so I can buy smaller screens if need be, and do the same. I found aluminum mesh online at a decent price as opposed to the 40/screen at the FLAPS, as this project will require 3-4 to do all 5 openings (including the rear bumper, if it is doable, if not, the foam roller, silver I idea may be quite the winner) Thanks so much again for this information!

Glad to help.

Keep in mind that the screens will restrict the air flow to some extent, so you want the open area to be about 60% or better. That's about the best you can get condidering you will have some restriction no matter what. You can get that kind of information from the mcmaster-carr.com web site. They have a complete selection of all kinds of material like that in different designs.
