Positive Dealer Experience (sort of!)

After much frustration (previously explained on this forum) regarding having all of my lights replaced due to condensation/film; I finally spoke to someone at my dealership who did something about it. It was kind of a fluke actually; he was a different Sales Manager, just filling in for the weekend.

Anyway, it wasn't all beer and pizza, he had to try to make me feel "grateful" by throwing in that they were "taking a chance" because Mazda was hesitating to cover them, and couldn't guarantee that they'd be replaced again if the problem resurfaced. However, they did replace head and taillights.

The good news is that they look much clearer than the originals. The bad new is that on the second day I noticed that greasy sort of film on the inside corner of one of the heqadlights in front of the parking light, and some condensation in the upper corner on one of the taillights. Oh well, 2 out of 4 isn't bad!!! An obvious defect. I am going to live with it for now, as I just don't have the energy to go back and fight about it some more.

Note: When I have the car in for service, they shuttle me to work in a crappy mini-van; when I have my Maxima in for service, Nissan gives me an Infinity to drive (obviously trying to tempt customers to upgrade!). Take note Mazda.

I still love this car!!! Would buy it again in a second. Mazda dealers just have so much to learn about customer service.

I had the same problem with my headlights (as many people have from what I gather) and the dealer ordered replacements no ? asked. Actually, I just got the call on Friday that they are in. So, I'm going to go down sometime this week and have them installed.

As far as loaner, HA, yeah right!! I get the same shuttle. Mazda does need to take a little remedial training on customer service.

There is an actual way to cleaning the headlights and tailights and keep them clean for good. Well, take your headlights out, heat up all the silicone,(a oven works good) then peel apart the plastic glass from the backing. Clean everything, the glass, the backing and whatnot. Next resilicone the light and backing back together really good. Let dry and reinstall. This should fix all problems. I know it did for my Supra.

Makes sense, but to get at the headlights you have to drop the entire front 'bumper' off. Not something I am interested in tackling myself!!! Plus, this car cost me $40000 (Cdn) so I don't think I should have to do any 'do it myself' work on a brand new car!
