Its not that we are flaming you, its just the fact that we started off by telling you how often you should change you oil, then you casually said how you do it 7-10k as though you didn't care cause you are too lazy. at that point, we lose some respect in your car knowledge and even more importantly, care. If you car means something to you, you will treat her right and not ever be too "lazy" to make time for her needs. She is like a child. If you ignore her, she will die. You do what you want, but don't be surprised how we are not happy with your "laziness".

generally speaking modern engine oil can last more than 5K miles. and believe it or not some "real" Synthetic oil can last 10-15 K miles.

some might say "of course we know that the oil can last 10-15K, but not its additives!"

it could, depends on the condition. thats all.

Not necessarily so. My '09 came with a free from the dealer unlimited miles, lifetime warranty on ALL engine and drivetrain components. Maybe he got one too. it's good FOREVER, or until the insurance company goes out of business!

I have never heard of this so either you got some kind of sweet deal, or they are offering a new warranty for the 09s than they did for the first gen.

This warranty is provided by the DEALER not the MANUFACTURER. I have so much insurance on the car they'll have to give me 2 new ones if anything breaks.

So you are running full synthetic in the engine and then switching on the next change to castrol non-synthetic gtx. Then for the next oil change back to RP?

This is incorrect. Many car manufactures are extending the length of time between oil changes. Mazda ever recommends 7,500 on the RX for light driving. Porsche has a 15K interval.

The engines in the 04 to 08 are the same and will consume oil in a similar fashion. Your driving style and if you are up to date on the engine flashes will have an impact on your oil consumption by not the model year.

With my 8, I would go between oil changes (3k miles) without needing to add any oil and I had the latest flash. So don't worry, you are fine. The flash is doing your car better.

How many 750 stretches have you driven since the flash? One, two, three? Sounds like only one. And if that's the case, did you check the oil level at that time? Perhaps the engine oil was slightly over-filled? Wouldn't that explain the long interval between oi refills?

Post your oil consumption figures again after 3000 miles of driving.

try to get your warranty after your factory warranty expired.

I've had oil consumption range from 500 miles to a quart to 2000. This is mostly city driving and really depends how hard the car is driven.

1.3L has some good advise, I would do it.

Christ, I change my oil every 3000 kms (1864 miles) or three months, whichever comes first. I can't imagine driving 10k miles (16k km) on a change - that's a third of the ******* mileage on my '05 (just about 40k km) which has probably had its oil changed like ten times since I got it two years ago.
