Paranoid bout my oil
Hi guys,
I recently just got the lastest flash on my ecu by Mazda, I noticed now when i drive about 750miles my oil is still full........... Before the flash my oil levels would be about 2/4 to 3/4 on the dipstick after a 350mile drive. Any precautions I should take? Thanks, |

it just says "Completed PCM inspection and software update".
im guessing it would be the latest update? lol
Year of the car?
it should be the latest.
if you baby your car a lot, your car will not use that much oil. dont worry too much, if your OMP is not working at all, your engine should failed already The best is to use Premix. |
the model is 04
Baby the car? lol I redline it atleast 15 times to and from work in gear 2-3 about 150kms on the freeway
every weekday lol
im almost on 110k miles without premix, so i dont believe in it >_<...
04, then you are fine. Our engines don't burn as much as the newer 8's. For an 04, you should premix if you want more oil in the engine for life expectancy. Which is all a case of opinion. With my 8, I would go between oil changes (3k miles) without needing to add any oil and I had the latest flash. So don't worry, you are fine. The flash is doing your car better.
And I never premixed either and redlined a couple times a day as my 8 was my DD

when the oil level finally "move", you'd be surprised how fast it goes. |
Only thing is when its really hot and humid outside, after an hours drive(about 3-4 redlines @ 140km/h) then stop for petrol. The car takes a little more effort to start like 1-3 secs. I still have my original starter though so I dunno if its good or bad lol. As for battery im using a random one lol.

there is a chance that you might overfilled your oil a bit @ the last oil change.

I change my oil around every 7000-10000miles, I've been switching between RP 5w30 and mazda's rotary oil(castrol gtx) 5w30. I know i should be changing it more but im too lazy. |

Your engine is out of warranty too :icon_no2:
LOL im surprised my engines lasted longer than those who change every 2-3000 and premix >_<
Thats how the rotary is, luck of the draw. You just get real f-ing lucky that yours could put up with poor maintenance. :icon_no2:

No offense here but Butt Dyno is never accurate. 7000 miles is ok for most cars. but For this car, there is like 1/3 - 1/2 oil remain inside your coolers and engine at oil change. so yeah ... u get the idea. |
I foresee we are going to be seeing him in the new motors thread. but without the free motor.
