Ok so about engine flooding

So I just had to move my rx8 I did a couple laps around the neighborhood and got it to operating temperature and when I parked I reved at 3k for 6-8 sec but I didn't "hear" any fuel dissipate as some other people described.. concern? Also, I may have misunderstood but...Can I just move the car rev it to 3k and get out? and when exactly do I turn off the engine? When the rpms settle or when they are still hovering at 2kish or do I have to wait for it to get to operating temperature? I've searched and read a bunch of stuff I just got a bit confused from all the people saying something different in each post.

When I rev, I would usually just rev it up to 3k. And once it hits 3k I shut it off.

I personally wait till the water temp shows up in the middle before I switch the engine off again usually about 3-4minutes around 20-30degrees outside temperature.

There are many threads on the subject. Get the needle to normal operating temperature by driving or idling. If you choose to rev before shutting down, get it to 3K and then turn off. No need for 6-8 seconds after its warmed up. That's overkill.

If you accidentally turn the 8 off when its not warmed up, try to start immediately. The longer the car sits the worse it gets.

I'll warm up your car for you every time you want to move a short distance if you'll let me live in Coronado!

When cold move, which is very rare for me, I like to turn off the ignition while the rev's are still up, quickly taking my foot off the gas of course.

If you complete your Marine Officer commissioning (hopefully so) you'll eventually spend time at NAB Coronado. I'd always chuckle way back when that I was spending $6 a night at the BOQ with 75 cent drafts and freely using 'SEAL beach' when folks just down the street at the Hotel Del Coronado (where they filmed Marilyn Monroe's Some Like it Hot and Steve Martin's My Blue Heaven) were laying down upwards of $200 a night with $5 beers and the same beach. btw: The NAS North Island Sunday brunch is the best kept secret in the Navy!
