Not Starting

My guess is that you'll have to drive the car around the block several times to get the engine to warm up before shutting it off. That is more than a little inconvenience to me. I hope I'm wrong and you're right about the rev before shutting off "fix". Time will tell.
I've had 2 floods, both last winter. I personally felt that the problem would resurface again this winter. I just had the N? flash done a couple of weeks ago (I had the M flash done last spring). The car is starting very quickly now and I have not had a problem. Both of my floods were due to starting the car and shutting it down quickly. The second one was unavoidable. I had washed the car and pulled it into the garage, but after fully warming it up. I left it in the garage without the parking brake on for a few days. It started right up and I put it in reverse. The brakes were frozen to the rotors and when they broke free, the engine stalled. I could not get it started again before the battery died. I took my trusty Honda to work (it always starts), and got the Mazda going when I got home, after charging the battery for the day.
My point is that no matter how careful you are, this will probably happen to you, eventually. For a mass market car sold as an everyday car, this is unacceptable. I don't think Mazda will solve the problem. That's why they are sending out a video on how to prevent it. Why they are sending the video out now is weird. I've owned the car for over 15 months and now they are telling me how to prevent this problem?
I'm lucky, I have another car and both floods happened at home. Will I be so lucky next time?

I have started my car 100s of times to pull it in or out of the garage ... engine cold ... runs for maybe a minute to pull in/out ... then shutdown. Never once have I had any issues with flooding or hard starts .... M flashed. I have zero experience with flooding or hard starts and therefore zero perspective on these flooding comments.
As far as I am concerned ... MAZDA's got it right ... but hey, I'll take a free video.

yup...
Mine does it all the time. it totally is a crap shoot. and i have a later production rx8 with current flashes... so flooding really inst the issue..... i have to crank it for a long time sometimes before it fires up..... it stinkx.. but oh well........ as long as it eventually starts every time i'll keep truckin!
