FL New RX8 owner

My name is Jon, I currently drive a 93 240sx and I bought my wife a 2005 Mazda RX8. The car is beautiful, only had 36,000 miles and we got it for 14,300 out the door. So i figured that is less than 10,000 miles a year on this car and I couldnt pass it up. Who ever had it before me barely drove it!

The car is a 6-speed manual and it seems as if it has a short throw shifter stock from the factory? I had been doing some reading now that I got one and Im under the impression I got the one with 238 advertised hp? How exactly would I know, or do you know that because it has the 6spd in it? Just wanted to introduce myself. Im looking forward to putting some mods on this thing.

Congrats, Welcome, Reading Time.

Check the link in my sig for what to do with the next $100, and the link to the new and future owners thread.

The car is great, I would not want anything else. These references, and the others you find, will help you with many hears of Zoom.

I have a question. Do rotaries lose power in the heat and humidity? I know Honda VTECs suffer horribly. My brothers 350Z ran the same 14.3 @ 99 in south florida heat as the corrected magazines times.

All internal combustion engines lose power in high ambient temperatures. Cooler air is more dense.

EDIT: There might--pure BS speculation here--be more of a difference with rotaries and VTECs because of the dependence on high RPMs and the resulting high airflow.
