How much for 2004 With Blown Engine

Local auction this weekend and a 2004 Red rx8 is up for sale.
Previous owner ran it out of oil/engine doesn't run.
It's the sport or gt or whatever the high end model is.
Has sunroof, hid's, bose, heated leather, navigation.
Tempted to buy it out and part it out cause I think it will go cheap.
What would be a STEAL price and what would be a good price?
Thanks guys.

I would buy it for 2k... if it was that neglected it was probably also beat on! Used engine are running around $2500.

As cheap as you can, wouldn't go over 1k if it's in **** conditon, 2500 if it's perfect, beyond the whole blown motor thing.

Get it, either drop a new motor or rebuilt motor or used motor in depending on your financial situation and what your wanting to do with it.

If you want to sell it, get new motor, have a trustworthy Mazda dealer inspect the car bumper to bumper, perform any needed maintance, throw in a Racing Beat Ram intake and some kind of cat less exhaust system, make everything nice and neat and sell it for 15k+

Lucky ***.

he said he is going to part it out. I don't think you will get less than 3 or 4k for it, but you can make that back on wheels, nav, brakes, lights, and interior.

Yes, I want to part it out, unless you think It's worth replacing the engine in.
I'm not sure how many miles it has in it, but it is in pretty decent shape.
No major dents, rips, tears etc.
So you think 2000 would be a good deal, IE I could easily make more than that parting it out.

It may take a bit of time, but you could make 2000 back and more easily on a part out. If the car is in good shape minus the engine, replacing the engine and selling it outright will net you more money. 2k for car + 3k for an engine swap = 5k invested. Sell it for a steal at 9k and make 4k. You make money and the buyer gets a solid car with a newer engine on the cheap
