I zoom therefore I am.
If you're looking for a mod you feel then I would agree on the AFE / RP Short Shifter. http://www.axialflow.com/products.htm it's at the bottom of the page
If you're looking for a cosmetic enhancement I would suggest clear corners.
You can check out my garage to see some of the mods I've done.

well of course i would like to increase power even full economy because no matter how hard i try i just cant seem to get the 20-25 mpg. Im not really looking to very much cosmetic stuff. I dont really have a that limited of a budget

Don't waste your time trying to get some magic mpg number - just enjoy the car. As mentioned AFE short-throw shifter, also springs/sway bars, exhaust/intake to enhance the rotary's beautiful sound are all good starts.

Buy a Cob Access Port from mazda maniac or the used one in the for sale section https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-parts-sale-wanted-44/f-s-cobb-access-port-box-148194/
It will give you a little power, a little MPG improvment, better cooling and it inreases the OMP (oil metering pump) which will help the seals last longer. If you ever going FI you can get a custom tune instead of a stand alone. It was my last mod but I wish it was my first.

I personally don't think the first mod shoud be a mod at all. I fill the you should spend some money on getting the compression/vaccum checked then get a good engine cleaner. followed buy new plugs and possibly new coils after you've checked them. after that change every fluid in the car trans, diff, radiator, oil, and breakfluid wheather you think it needs it or not. Then possibly put it on a dyno to find out if your missing power. All this is likley to run you $600 but it's the best mod you will ever do IMHO. You will see more of an increase with a properly running and happy 8 than with any intake and exhaust.
Just my 2 cents.
