TX New RX-8 owner

I just bought an '07 RX-8 sport with an auto. It has 46,1xx miles and only paid $13k for it. It has always been one of my dream cars. I traded in my '03 Cavalier for it so it is definitely an upgrade. I came here mainly for the information and if or when I had questions about the car.

Oh and my fiancé James also posts here too.

Use the manual mode of the AT. Shift at 5000 rpm and your engine will love it. And so will you. Of course redline it everyday too.
The only way to drive an Automatic.

Whereas you SHOULD open it up and redline it on occasion where safe to do so, you don't need to shift it at 5000 rpm every time under all conditions. I don't hear that advice even from the M/T drivers on here.

Use the paddle shifters and shift as you would any manual transmission, depending on driving conditions and requirements.
