My first exterior mod!

Just finished attaching the air dam the the RX8.

I chickened out when it came to drill 6 holes into the bumper and used only double sided tape but it seems to hold quite well.

I know that usually they are painted to match the car but I think it came out good!

Now looking for the side flares!!

Looks good in black. You will regret not drilling the holes. Its very easy there are X's on the inside of the bumper, you really can't screw it up.

hmm, the black actually looks pretty decent. i read the post before checking out the pictures and was thinking 'seriously?' but it doesn't look bad from those pics.

+1 regarding regretting not drilling the holes

Just take the bumper off and drill the holes. would you rather have it fall off in the rain at 70mph?

whoa. that actually looks pretty good. but yeah since there's X's marked you should go ahead and drill the holes. as "Lord ET" said, if it falls off and gets all scratched up, then you'll definitely be regretting not drilling the holes.

WOW, this just made me consider a much cheaper alternative to the Carbon Fiber EVo-R lip I was going to purchase. I may be doing this same thing!!

I like it a LOT!!

looks good but I highly encourage you to drill those holes as double sided tape is not the only thing you want holding that on. I cringe at what could happen...

As I mentioned before they look great.
Although I am kind of curious ... are you going to paint the side sills (you put it as side flares) black also? or going with red?

No, Side Sills will be colour coded (27A). Only air dam will be black.

as double sided tape is not the only thing you want holding that on
Well, tape is not the only thing that is holding the air dam. There are 4 clips behind the number plate and also I have managed to drill 2 holes in the air dam just and used the same holes in the bumper which were used to hold the old air dam.

Also I might consider to drill the holes. Since the only reason I have not drilled the holes is for backward compatibility. But now that I know that I can get the car out of the garage slip without touching the air dam (only just!!) I might consider air dam as a permanent change!

BTW thanks for compliments!!

Drill the hole and secure it tightly, I'd witness a car that took out the whole front fender when the plastic guard in the wheel well came off and caught something at low speed.

looks good in black dude.

you really should just drill it in though. Your going to be sad when it falls off, and who knows im sure if it fell it would go right under your car and could easily ruin somethinng else or cause you to crash. Thats something oyu can easily avoid.

Oh and idk what color you plan to get hte flares in but im not sure those would look so good in black on your VR, but thats jsut my opinion.
