New to the rotary scene :)

Well me and my fiance just picked up an 04 rx8. its an automatic unfornatly but its for her to drive.. the car drives beyond amazing so were really excited about that. Im a little worried though, the more I read about the car the more problems i hear about. so I have a few questions.

How can I find out if all of the recalls have been done on the car?
Is there a way to tell if the engine has been replaced?
how bad is this flooding issue?
when it does flood is it somthing i can let it sit for a while and then start or is there a fix needed when it happens?

Thanks, I have more questions but my keybord is broken so ill ask later haha.
Tim

Take it to any Mazda dealer. They can look up your car's service history.

The dealer can tell you that, too.

Not much of a problem if the car has had the upgraded starter and more powerful battery installed—dealer can tell you if that was previously done. Just remember to never start up the car (when cold, after it's been sitting overnight) and then turn it right off without letting it warm up first.

No. If Mazda's recommended procedure for starting when flooded doesn't work, it needs to be towed to the dealer.

And Tim, be sure to read the FAQ, it'll save you a lot of time: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...56#post1875956

just let your get warm before shutting it off and you'll be fine.. I have'nt flooded my car one time in 4 yrs. If you absolutely have to do a quick move be sure to rev it up to 3 grand for 8-10 sec. and shut it off immediatley. hope this helps but it should all be in your manual as well as the de-flood procedure. Also, if your fiance is going to be driving it, make sure to tell her to rev it up at least once a day.. I know females don't like to drive aggressively but it will keep your engine healthy.

just tell her you are taking it out for 'maintenance' .

Re the flooding - most of us don't have an issue with it . Just read up on what to do if it ever happens - very easy to solve with deflood proceedure .
