One thing to not do is crank her up cold, move a short distance and shut her off...she'll flood. ALWAYS allow her to warm up to normal driving temp!

There are lots of threads here on this issue if you'll use the search engine. This place is one of the most informative car forums I've ever been on. Just about any question you have has probably already been asked and answered a hundred times, but If you are still concerned after looking for the answer to something, don't hesitate to ask. Just acknowledge you've searched first or get the flame suit handy! There a lots of great people here, but they love to mess with the newbies!

Welcome.
A modest 3k rev before shutting off your WARM engine will keep you happy.
Keep an eye on the oil level and rev it out to 9k every day.

The owners manual also has a lot of very important information that you should look into to help you with a lot of your questions. As for your question about what temp should you start your 8, any temperature is fine. You can start your car in the cold or the heat, the 8 is versatile.

Needle should be somewhere shy of the middle.

Yes! Before turning off the car you must exit the car and do the "rotary dance"with arms flailing, then open both front and rear drivers side doors do the RX8 "embrace". Then and only then can you turn the car off. Many owners early on failed to do so and truly angered the rotary gods. The gods then unleashed the evil and much dreaded Flood Gnomes to teach them the ways of the Renesis. The rest is history...

Enjoy!

Ahhhh seeing this thread brings back memories of a mutch more brutal time. Where a question like this would unleash an insurmountable flame that would burn hotter than the atmosphere of Mars.

I believe my first thread was titled, "Help, white pasty gunk on the end of dipstick!" LOL. I was almost banned for that one. You learn pretty quick to use the search function.

Welcome to the club new guy

Before starting you must sing the monty python song "i'm a lumberjack and I'm ok".
While driving you must sing "born to be wild"
And Before turning off you sing " can't get ya outta my head"

Welcome to the Addiction Paul.....and as you can see by some of the responses here, we have some members in dire need of an intervention!

Enjoy the ride, and don't worry about the perma-grin. It's normal!

actually the atmosphere of Mars is typically around just below 0F in the tropic parts most of the Martian year. And since the "air" on Mars is mostly (95%) carbon dioxide... it wouldn't burn.
