New plugs and wires but...
Replaced all 4 spark plugs and wires today. Car is still idling rough and trying to stall. I suppose next steps would be zoom engine cleaner and maybe coils? I can get the coils done thru dealership for $100 total. Engine cleaner i have read i can do myself and would much prefer to do so since the dealer wants to charge $250 to do this (which is crazy!). Anyways i guess i expected the new plugs and wires to make a difference but doesnt seem to?
2005..58k miles...has new air filter.

I have extended warranty so they said all i have to pay is the 100 deductible. Yes 58k on the original coils. Im assuming they are prob ready to be changed out! I just now changed the plugs and wires too at 58k and i know for a fact they were overdue from what everyone says on here! So if i can get it done for 100 thru them i know thats cheaper than i can even buy them if im not mistaken?
its probably the coils,
i was at 65k miles and the idle was crazy! never stalled, but it would bounce up and down at idle, so i decided just to do all at once and it fixed everything. i had a cracked spark plug and my coils were probably done. my guess is the its coils...for $100 i'd get it done asap. but its easily something you can do yourself.

After changing my coils my car was cured of quite a few problems I had been having.....went 84k miles on stockers so I guess its expected :X.......
for now on if I run into anymore idle/running issues my first stab at fixing it will be coils.

A set of OEM coils is around $135 USD, so if you can get your dealer to do it for $100 ded. under your extended warranty then that's certainly the way to go.
New plugs are good as they ultimately produce the spark. New wires are good as they convey the high voltage to the 'plugs. But new coils are essential as they transform the battery's 12v to the high voltage necessary to create the spark.

COILS!
instead of "BS flag" or inside a sign?....would save us all lots of time right?
Just a thought......gotta be cost effective in these hard times right? every extra letter we type kills a kitten or something......

Yep i verified with mazda they will do the coils for $100 total thru extended warranty so i will be getting it done tomorrow
I was asking on here because my friend was telling me coils are NOT suppose to be shot at 58k and i was trying to explain to him i thought that might be the problem tho. Thanks for the input.

lol. I think my coils are gone. I got my spark plugs checked 5k kilometers ago and they were perfect.
I just dyno'ed my car at a whopping 164.3whp today, so Im guessing my cat is finished or I need new coils.

Ok coils are in. Im attaching a picture of my old spark plugs that went 58k...im not good at reading spark plugs but i figure alot of you on here can look at them and tell if they look ok or not?
