I've had my 04 rx8 for about 2 months now and no problems...until now. I just had all 4 rotors and pads replaced and drove the car home and it was working awesome.

Then I took it out last night and came up to a stop light beside an rsx that wanted to race me. When I went to take off my car had a really wierd take off, it was like I was trying to take off in 5th gear. So now everytime I stop and try to get rolling again I have to rev it up until like 5-6k before it will even move.

Is this my clutch or could it be my tranny? My buddy told me that it could be my coils or it could be that my clutch just needs adjusting....any ideas?

 

dont street race. then you wouldnt have this problem

Engine rpm 6k in gear! You smoked your clutch. The 8 is not a drag car.

 

the vtak in the rsx overwhelmed and phyched you/your car out while you were burning out your clutch.

You fried your clutch and now it's slipping. I hope those 50 yard "street races" to the next traffic light were worth the chunk of change it's gonna cost to fix.

 

if your coils are fried, it can result with the vehicle bogging when giving it normal amount of revs. Forcing you to overrev it to get moving without bogging down.

 

you dont know what you are talking about.

street racing is bad, lets keep it to the track. how many miles do your rx8 have? you should probably change your coils and plugs like mysql pointed out. if that fixes things, great, if not. new clutch.
