Well, you could look at it from the standpoint that the car looks like it is even faster then it is. Or that it is amazingly fast considering the hp/tq numbers.

Well im happy with my "150" hp...its amazing how everyone other than experienced drivers think our cars suck. So Ill keep on being happy knowing that only people with good taste appreciate what our cars can do.

doesnt matter how many whp my car has. i do faster lap times than lots of other "faster" cars on the track and that's all that matters to me.

I thought I read they put an older twin-turbo RX-7 vs a Miata on a track. They ended with nearly indentical track times. RX-7 wins the accel, Miata wins the twistyies.

I'll take my RX-8 anyday.

For all the rx8 haters on other sites, maybe they should read this article and see just how good this car is. I own the rx8 and i know it's not the faster car in the world, hell i own a 4AT i dont try to race anybody, i love my car because of how great it is, the handling and just that smile i get on my face knowing that i dont have to let off the gas when im approaching a curve at 50mph. I have friends of mine with GTI's 350z's and all these others cars telling me how they would destroy my car...i laugh and tell them that there right, but this is not the fast and furious or anything like that. That what most people dont understand about our unique machines.

Whenever I'm with a girl and I see an evo/sti/etc I ask, "Hey, which car do you think is faster, that one or mine?"

Exactly what I was thinking. Many a "faster" car has dissapeared in my rear-view mirror at the track.

Regarding the 7th gen Celica, that car is even more under-rated than the 8. IIRC, people used to get about 155-160 whp on stock cars - that's pretty decent for a 1.8L four. I actually consider it the FWD equivalent of the 8 in a couple of ways.

1. It is lighter and handles better than it's competitors
2. It has less torque than its competitors and people bitch about it.

 

i remember referring to a yellow gt-s at VIR last summer as a rolling road block. that guy would not let me pass. he got so many blue flags by the corner guards.
