My first road trip with Maxine (my Rx8)
I had to take a trip to Richmond, VA from Orange, NJ for my gf's sister-in-law's baby shower. It didn't make sense for me to travel 6 hours for a 2 hour baby shower...but I digress.
I had 2 major concerns prior to the trip. The first one was mileage. I do a lot of city driving and get abismal mileage (about 160 to 180 per fillup). Secondly was my power steering which was flaking out about 80% of the time. I took my car to Wayne Mazda and they held it for three hours without touching it. Not to waste any more of my time, I took Maxine back and decided to tackle the issue on my own.
The day of the road trip, I managed to cut the connectors for the 3 wire harness for the p/s unit and solder everything together. Took 45 minutes and had no problems during the 760 mile trip. And in regards to the mileage, I was mildly surprise to get 262 miles to each fill up. This was done while driving in gear 6 for about 95% of the time and came up to about 19.76 mpg.
Maxine really impressed me and I've found a new love for my 8.
