my 2jz rx8

What do you feel about a mazda rx8 with a supra 2jz in it?

Basically went through five engines. The second image is of a build 13 B motor (gave me around 500 HP but only last 4 days.) Instead my buddy told me he would build me a 1200 HP engine to put in it (5th image).

For all the people who have laughed at the RX-8 for all engine failures and lack of power I have something for them. Should have DYNO videos soon in a later thread.

For all the ladies, pictures are welcome.

Wait... 500HP 13b-msp? Did you just throw a turbo on it and expect it to run properly/reliably?

A lil more info on the "2jz" swap? You didn't just ask for a "built 2jz" did you?

I think there is a different problem if your motor only lasted 5 days...

No, it has after market pistons and rods. Main caps, port polish head with ferrara valve train. It also has a tech 3 full standalone computer system, 1600cc injectors, Garret GT42R turbo that has been modified. The engine also has half inch studs and ARP bolts. High Performance oil pump gear.

I decided to go with this swap instead of the standard 13-B high performance build reason being kept getting f*ed by these people in Miami and basically its cheaper to do this swap than putting a 20-B into it.

this thread is about to get good.

To the OP. I hope you can pull it off. I love to see super custom projects.
But being an RX owner I must object to removing its heart.

My motor was built by Alex Lopez from Lopez Racing in Miami. Hes on the RX-7 club and he is a well known motor builder in Miami and Puerto Rico so I would like to think it was not the motor.

I love the 13-B and I always dreamed in owning an RX-7 but was able to buy an RX-8 but never imagined having these problems. All my problems started after putting on the Greddy Turbo Kit.

I own a Acura NSX, BMW 745 and Porsche Cayenne but my favorite is my RX-8 so I know where your coming from. I just couldn't deal with constant engine failures and various other problems associated with the turbo kit. Plus the dealer void my warranty so there was no turning back. This build is not to let people really know out on the street what I have in it, but its to go out there and take down everybody who thinks the RX-8 is a joke and leave them wondering "what happened"?

I'm sorry but i got tired of those SRT-4s taking me.

I had a Greddy Turbo Kit, Borla Exhaust, Mazport Fuel System and a Microtech Computer.

The problems that I had was backfiring, persistent smoking, low mileage for fuel, flames coming out of the exhaust and whenever the backfiring got really bad I would blow an Apex seal.

I like the nsx.......great cars......hopefully you have more luck with the 2jz engine.......if you do the car will be insane......are you actually going to try for 1200hp???? or are you going for a more useable amount of power??? ie....5 - 600 hp......I would think that would be more than enough for most cars....certianly and rx8.

My motor is built for 1400 HP I'm going to try and stay anywhere between a 1000 and 1200 HP. I sold the NSX so I had the funds for this project. I definitely plan on pulling this off. I'm not bullshitting with this build.

OK. So is it a 13b-msp? 13brew? 13bt?

How do you plan on putting the 2jz into the rx8? You obviously need more than just the motor, right?

Neons stock, have what, ~260?

NA Manual 8's come with ~230. Add on a turbo and eh...Hard to see how you lost?

Sounds like something was wrong with the driver, not the car...

People are putting Corvette Engines in the them, why can't you put a 2jz? Its not like we don't have the room. Its not a 13 at all its a 2jz from a Toyota Supra.

So what's your turbo kit giving you? Mazport makes a turbo kit for about 10-12 thousand dollars for this car and the most it can get you with a stock engine is 300 HP. But then again you might be one of those people whose cars weren't built on Monday so thats why you don't have any problems.

Uh... I didn't say you couldn't. I asked you what else you're going to use (of course custom fabricated) to do the swap? You obviously need more than just a built 2jz.

I don't know where you heard that 500hp 13b's (i'm assuming 13bt or 13b-REWs) will last "4 days" (short period of time).

The RX-8 simply put is a bad *** car. I feel like the RX-8 was built from the driver's seat on not from someone's desk.

The swap also includes no transmission, new axles, dry shaft and a full standalone computer.

The 13-B engine that I had would not enable me to keep the temperature down.
