Gas mileage
I check mine every time I gas-up. Divide miles driven since last fill-up by gallons taken on current fill-up. Easy.
I see a lot of folks here complaining about their mileage. I have an '07, had it 3 months now, in that time I've put 1300 miles on it. I am getting 18+ mpg and it's been almost all "city" driving, although I have opened-it up on the freeway a few times. It's better than my old car (which I still have) so I'm not complaining. Used about a quart of oil in that time.
No complaints, no need for a mileage gadget here. I can see where it could serve as a warning device of sorts, however, if mileage suddenly and drastically changed, with no corresponding change of driving habits.

Even on my worst tank which was pretty much all spirited driving, I've yet to dip under 16.. I don't see how people average less than that for every tank, let alone get 11-13mpg on a single tank..
Well, I could understand absolutely busy cities, and places like NC where even the highways are freaking stop and go(I swear to god, I could never live there. Never in my life have I seen a state with interstates that are always crowded because of wrecks, on a daily basis. I only saw new cars there, because all the even mildly older ones had been freaking wrecked off.)
Okay, but seriously, just make sure your car is in good order, all your maintenance kept up, and you won't need a stupid little gauge to tell you what you're getting. Just do complete fill ups, and divide the miles traveled by how much gas you put in. Much cheaper, and you can say, use the money from a gauge to tell you that number, towards say, new plugs/wires/coils, fluids, filters, or whatever else.

Anyways, any more recent opinions on the ScanGaugeII? Still the best option for this kind of purpose? I think I'm about to buy one.

Its exactly what you needed. I use it for monitoring coolant temp and better mpg, it kinda threw the concept of keeping low rpm = better mpg out the window. Its very useful indeed.

When the car gets as poor mileage as the RX the last thing you want to do is make it easier for the owner to see it.
